any kayakers?

#8896429 - 09/08/08 03:42 PM (18 years, 1 month ago)

was looking for some info, i really want to get into it. i realize its late in the year to start, but the sales will be up soon and i should have enough to purchase a good starter one.

really i am just looking for what i should look for, any products/brands to stay away from, and really just any input. i am a pretty experienced canoer and really want to try kayaking.

any input would really help.

I would surf craigslist looking for one first before buying a new one. We managed to get 2 kayaks off of craigslist for the price of 1 new one

Here is a cheapie but it will work well for getting your feet wet. There really isnt much to kayaking. I would go for a carbon fiber paddle over alumnium. The biggest problem I have had with kayaking is paddles breaking (partly from dicking around but it still sucks to have to single paddle a kayak)
