    #12880819 -

Found this one in amongst some dead mulch, very moist area in sandy dirt.

Sort of looks like one but the bruising doesn't look very blue to me in that pic. Spore print colour?

Hey, the picture doesn't  show the bruising, but it is blue. I was more worried about the colour of the cap.

No spore print.

The cap does look a little different from what I've been seeing. Are you able to take a shot of what it looks like now?

The cap does look a little different but I'm fairly sure it's an active Psilocybe, especially if it really has Blue bruising.

@greasewizard: Post a couple more pics if you're able to.

Yeah the stem looks very Psilocybe but the striations in the cap are strange for subaeruginosa..

I think it's a psilocybe. Most likely subaeruginosa, although the top of the cap does look odd..

experts?

Doesn't look like a P. subaeruginosa to me, really. Might be, but it appears a bit too delicate. It's just a general feeling, however.

Definitely an active Psilocybe. Probably P. subaeruginosa but microscopy would reveal all.

Thanks for posting the extra pics!

I only managed to get just that one. There are very few around where I search.

Is anyone able give me pointers on the kind of conditions/areas these types grow? or If anyone has had any first hand experience with these in Australia.

Woodchip gardens, Pine forests and Native bush is the areas these chaps like to inhabit.

Ahh I see.

here is a list of the flora around the areas I look.

    * Cabbage tree palm (Livistona australis).
    * Coast white box (Eucalyptus quadrangulata).
    * Giant stinging tree (Dendrocnide excelsa)
    * Native Tamarind (Diploglottis australis).
    * Red cedar (Toona australis).
    * Sassafras (Doryphora sassafras).
    * Turpentine (Syncarpia glomulifera).
    * Citronella (Citronella moorei).
    * Jackwood (Cryptocarya glaucescens).
    * Bollygum (Litsea reticulata).

Curious to know which one those mushrooms grow around.

Thanks experts!

Well seeing as Psilocybe subaeruginosa isn't mycorrhizal I wouldn't think they would grow under any of those unless the area is covered in woodchips. The mushrooms you're looking for decompose dead wood, particularly wood of Eucalyptus and Pinus sp. You should be looking in areas with a lot of wood debris on the ground or amongst woodchip landscaped gardens.

Here are some pictures of Psilocybe subaeruginosa in differing habitats, try and look for similar areas.

Woodchip garden:

Pine forest habitat:

Australian Temperate Native forest:

Hope that helps you a bit.:mushroomgrow:
