Need ID on poss Melbourne Psilocybe subaeruginosa find

Location: Melbourne, Victoria
Habitat: Woodchips/Bark of garden variety
Believe them to be Psilocybe subaeruginosa.

After they were picked and brought home I noticed some discoloration. This continued until they had faded from a dark brown to near white. Is this a common occurence, and if so, why?

Also, they do have hollow stems but do not bruise blue.

As this is my first season as a picker, I would GREATLY appreciate an experienced shroomers advice before I have a moment of weakness and eat them hehehhe ...

Those top ones definately arent.

I'm 95% sure the rest aren't either, I may be wrong but I don't think so.

P subs. always have some blue staining, and up to this point, the weather simply wouldn't support the growth of subs.

I don't think those are poisonous but I definately wouldn't eat them anyway.

If I'm wrong then someone correct me.

I am quite positive that these are not subs. There would be moderate to heavy blue staining after a few minutes, and the caps doesn't look like subs at all. They tend to be quite wavy when they're a bit more mature.

Check out nOs' posting from yesterday to see what subs looks like.

Those look like Pan Foe's to me,Pan Subs would have alot darker of a stem,although those caps up there in your pics look alot more bell shaped than most Pan Foe pics Ive seen,but Im pretty sure thats what they are.

they look like Psathyrellas to me, close to P. gracilis. if so the spores will be black.

Those are most likely some sort of Psathyrella....most likely Psathyrella gracilis. They are not active.

Psathyrellas have thinner stems and usually have a ring towards the margin - could be, but i would think not.
Definately note subaeruginosa - if it dont stain blue in melbourne on wood, then it aint subaeruginosa.

my guess would have been maybe Tubaria furfuracea although the matured caps arent looking so... gracilis?

panaeolus foenisecii are found on soil/grass, not a liginous species.

Just for future reference try and cut or brake the mushrooms off at the step rather than plucking them from the ground (not sure if u did pluck then or not, but it apears u may have?)  eitherway best of luck next time :smile:

Im surprised but it could be i suppose - just different to what id expect from the Psath. - they almost look like a coprinus. species i often find in Melbourne - the stem in particular, but it doesnt sound like they turned into a black blob of ooze...:)
No not active - keep looking for blue stainers - subs stain dark blue...You wont miss it...

Mushrooms growing in grass or pastures but not directly form manure. This would be for lawn or field varieties of P. semilanceata, P. stuntzii, P. baeocystis, P. fimetaria, etc.

They grow with the muycelium attached tothe roots of wild grasses and lawn grasses. You do not pluckl. you lift them from the ground without squeezing them so as to not cause oxidation.

There is no need to cut grass shrooms with scissors. The body fo the mycelia is not disturned as in wood varieties where the mycelia is very thick.
