I have a 4 qt pressure cooker that I bought off of ebay. It works great, but because of its size I can only do three jars at a time. A bigger one would be a tremendous time saver. Also get the brand name first and check to see that they are still in existence since you may have to replace some of the parts like the sealing ring, etc...Lastly, ask the seller what "psi" it steams at. 15 psi is optimal. Good Luck!

Presto is a good brand, their cookers are 4 qt, 6 qt, and 8 qt. You'd want the 8 qt. With it you can fit 7 1/2pt jars(8 oz) or 7 3/4pt jars (12 oz) (these are Ball jelly jars).

The 12oz. jars are real nice..

If you really want to step up, they have canners in the 18-22 range. But I don't think this is necessary for the home cultivator. The smaller cookers are good for cooking food too, so I like them.

If you go to walmart you can get one for like 35 bucks that will hold about 8 jars. If your paying anything close to 35 for the one on ebay, I would just go buy a new one.........and if you don't like it, pressure cook your stuff, and when you see you've done everything right, Takes that bitch back, make it look the same as when you bought it and say you got it for your mom and she already has one.

All American.... 1/2inch thick cast aluminum. Metal on Metal seal (no replacing rubber gaskets)... I buy stuff to last a lifetime and then hand down to my children, and their children

I got two of them and yes they are worth every pretty penny. They are the brand that Stamets resells over on fungi perfecti website.

WHAT? If you're going to buy a pressure cooker, you might as well get a good one. I got a 17 quart presto pressure canner.
You can do 24 1/2 pint jars, or 7 quart jars at once. Besides, what's the point of getting a pressure canner for small jars. It's really only worth the investment if you are planning to use quart jars for bulk grain. go to http://www.wildprairie.com/wildprairie1/17qtprescan.html

Tried to include direct link but it didn't work. Go there and use the search for pressure cooker. If I can figure out why I can't just copy and paste from there, I'll bring the info here, it's good stuff.
