In reality, pulling a knife on a secuirty guard would NOT be a good idea...

It would be a bad idea to even bring a knife into a show in the first place.

Why in the world would you be tripping at the Sprint Center? Did you forget about a little something called set and setting?

Tripping. Guard bigger than him. Guard has reinforcements. OP has parole hanging over his head and doesn't want to go to jail.

Actually he was on probation, not parole, but either way, it's possible he could've gotten away with stabbing that asshole security guard because he went way beyond his bounds (self-defense is not a crime); security personnel for events like these are not allowed to just violently assault people for taking pictures, the most they can do is escort them outside of the premises.

There's nothing about what PilzeEssen said here in this thread that shows that he is the type of guy you've made him out to be:

Although I think the dude your putting into question is a serious troll the fact of the matter is you have lost absolutely all credibility when trying to argue that a man on probation under the influence of LSD could get away with stabbing a security guard at the Sprint Center under any circumstance...

Seriously.. are you fucking nuts or just unaware of how the real world works?

I am aware that if you are being assulted and feel that your life is in danger that you have the right to try and defend it--that the OP was "tripping" is a non-issue in this case.

You sound like someone who watched a Matlock episode and thinks with the mental acuity of a 14 year old.

Excessive force applies to both parties in this case after non compliance with profanity and the fact that the OP was under the influence of LSD he was not in a legal state of mind to make such a judgment call nor could he argue that in a court of law.

In addition to that the OP refused to comply with concrete rules and did so by using profanity. Although the security guard should and may lose his job over such a situation stabbing him would only serve as attempted murder due to the altercation being initially provoked.

The first thing their going to do is a drug test. After which they will ask what instigated the confrontation. With the fact that the situation was started due to non compliance with venue rules the fact that you claim the person could stab a security guard in an authority position and plea self defense is honestly a testament to how ignorant you are of the legal system.

Self defense pleas are extremely complex and must be handled in a delicate manner. Once an illegal drug is found within the blood stream it makes it almost impossible to argue a self defense plea ESPECIALLY if the person being stabbed is in a security position on private property.

This guys going to be lucky to lose his job under such a situation and your arguing that he could legally stab a security guard on LSD at a stadium...

Go learn the acute details of Self Defense laws and how they apply to private property before spouting off clearly retarded off the hip guess worked bullshit.

I got choked by a big ass biker/redneck in a bar a few weeks ago, so I feel your pain. I just tried to rip his ear off, thought about swinging but realized he was not swinging....and he had me pinned to the ground by my throat, so I wasn't trying to escalate the situation.

I should add that getting choke-slammed/choked certainly is way cooler than getting punched in the face. Both of our situations could have been a lot worse.

if it makes you feel any better that guy probably lost his job anyways.  those "security" guards are usually hired on a per show basis.

but wtf is up with these concerts and the "no cameras" policy?  i understand no flash, but "no cameras" seems a bit restrictive on personal liberties

If he was just being pushed around, then maybe. But he was in a choke-hold and felt that his life was in serious danger--regardless of whether or not he prooked the security guard, I would think that he had every right to defend himself in any way possible, especially since he was much smaller than the guy.

What?

After the initial stabbing the OP would be taken into custody and asked to give a toxicology screening. If refused it would severely hinder his defense in a court of law. Again you obviously don't know the process in itself let alone how it would be handled in court... your guessing here man and badly at that. The Police will handle the situation immediately after such situations and attempt to drug test the individual. In addition to that they would be looking for signs of intoxication specifically after a violent crime.

Considering the pupils dilate more often than not on LSD and leave signs for trained law enforcement they would testify the OP not only refused a drug test but was clearly intoxicated after the situation.

And no I'm not saying you shouldn't have the right to defend yourself under the influence. I am however saying that the court system frowns upon those who plea such defenses ESPECIALLY if they refuse to give a drug test after the altercation and even more so if the drug is illegal and severely mind altering such as LSD.

Those so called witnesses would hurt just as much as they would help. After being sworn in they would testify that the OP was non compliant with venue rules than pulled a deadly weapon after being choked. This would serve as excessive force in itself after not complying with the rules of a private property.

All your bullshit aside its this simple.

You cannot claim self defense with a deadly weapon after an unarmed security guard chokes you out when your illegally intoxicated on drugs at a private venue and you refuse to comply with the rules.

The fact is your posts  show your simply arguing your belief that a self defense claim is viable. Not the legal basis for it.

You keep going back to the fact that the guy is bigger meaner and choking someone out. Security staff are trained to detect intoxication. Depending on the judge the security guard may be able to even argue that the OP was clearly non compliant and intoxicated and he detained him forcibly to prevent harm to himself and others... Oh wait I forgot he's on probation to.. so he has priors.. I'm sure that's going to be brought up in court to.

I'm not arguing for the security guard here but I think it's safe to say you have no idea what your talking about from a legal standpoint.

Your logic is fucked dude. Go research the intricate details of self defense laws in addition to the process that Police employ after such altercations before spouting off such retarded OPINION based bullshit.

No standard drug test kits screen for LSD.

The security guard had no right to do what he did, even if the OP was on private property and was non-compliant--if he was being beat up by a huge guy, he has the right to defend himself, regardless of whether or not he was inebriated.

The witnesses would definitely help, they would express how they felt that the guard was completely out of line--the more witnesses, the better idea the judge has of what actually happened.

Big people like that are not considered unarmed when they assault people, they are charged with 'assault with a deadly weapon'--being inebriated does not negate your right to self-defense, not in the least. I'd like to see you provide an example of a person who was denied his/her right to self-defense merely on the grounds that s/he was inebriated.

I'm arguing both.

That's quite a generalization, many security guards receive no training whatsoever, and I've been one of them!

He went well beyond necessary force to "detain" the OP--if OP's priors are non-violent, I don't think it would be an issue.

This is probably the other half of the story.

Someone seems unable to understand what "no pictures" means, or feels it doesn't apply to them.

Security says "stop".  The person takes an attitude with security, gets ass handed to them.

Person then goes online with distorted story and conclude: "Well if I wasn't getting my ass beat, I really would have beat his ass".
