FM 3-05.70 (latest version of US Army Field Manual 21-76)

A quality 443 page Survival Manual dealing mostly with survival in the wild, all over the world. Information covers such useful fields as avoiding hypothermia and dehydration, which plants to eat and which to avoid, how to catch and cook wild animals, how to improvise survival tools and basic first aid.

Essential reading for preparedness. Bookmarks tab holds an interactive document index.

You don't have to be a Mormon to have much use for this book!

In the first two dozen or so pages these Latter Day Saints go heavy on Jesus, after that its 200+ pages of uninterrupted high quality information on Preparedness topics such as food and drink storage, defense, money, disaster types, building latrines and just about anything you can think of with emphasis on surviving a crisis making your stand in and around the home.

The LDS Preparedness Manual is a standard reference book in the survival/preparedness scene.

Thanks, I'm going out in the wild in about two weeks. Plan to make a few 3-7 day hikes from hut to hut. It will be winter here in New Zealand and I will travel alone so I can use some tips :smile:.

I can put them on my phone/gps and I have 4 spare batteries, but when my phone dies I will die with it; no GPS, no detailed maps, no survival manual :grin:
