Which kind of car manual is best?
    #2481566 - 03/29/04 10:15 PM (12 years, 8 months ago)

I'm looking to buy a book to help me with my 1984 Isuzu pickup, and there are many available:
Users Manual
Owners Manual
Repair Manual
Service Manual

I don't understand the difference between these. My girlfreind said there was a book that includes everything about the car, she didn't know the name when I asked so I did a search. Now my girlfreind thinks I'm stupid because I don't know the name of the manual that she is thinking about...

I can't answer your question but I would suggest checking out the library. I've seen owners manuals there for most cars. Then maybe you'll have a better idea of what manual you need to buy or you could just borrow the book.

If your serious about working on your car, get the Factory Service Manual. For my last car (Audi) it was from Bentley (not the same as the car company). It will be expensive, ~$100, but its almost 3 times as thick as the Pep Boys manuals (Chilton, Haynes, etc.) and It will show you step by step how to break down every single system on the car.
