How'd you acquire it?

Let us say that I acquired it from a much older hand than I, who was no longer using it.

Got around to administering the first true test of this flow hood by drawing a LC in front of it and inoculating four separate test jars of it..
Nice thick LC.

2 days later.

The real test for that rig will be agar. I hope the filter is still in good shape. Did you open up the box to see if it had a prefilter inside? Keep us posted.

Wondering, how is the "real test" for rig, be agar, in your opinion? Figured opening and closing a LC in front of would be a true enough test. Waiting to see the results of this test before I jump into the agar.
So far so good. 5 days after inoculation and no visable sign of contaminates.

Figured any bacterial contaminates would have germinated by now, rearing their ugly heads.

So far none in test jars. LC has recovered nicely and has settled to the bottom with new growth around the parimeters. LC looks just as sweet as it did at the time it did right before the mycelium was broken apart and drawn into syringes.

Your face is not a proper gauging device when it comes to the examination of LC's when looking for contaminates. Only way to properly test LC's is drawing them into syringes and inoculating test jars.
90% percent sure that "Ham's Hood" is operational @ this point. A few more days with no contaminations and finally work can begin, with confidence, on this;

Good move on editing that dirty image from you post above. That dirty image had this guy pretty upset.

Pouring a sleeve of dishes would be a good test, but having a blank on hand to test would be better. Even better is a particle counter, but unless you know someone that has one...
Anyhow 2nd pic, those jars are covered in trich. 2 of the pics don't show up...kinda confused. More than likely your hood is fine. You can spray the face of the hood with lysol (don't drench it, just a quick spray) beofre use, and run it for for 15-30 minutes to scrub the air. Shower, blah, blah blah you know all this already why I am rambling
Good luck with the gold oyster!!

These are tasty as hell!

By "blank" do you mean syringe that has been unopened? How do you go about testing with a blank?
Jars cover in trich are just an illustrative example of the statement, "bacteria contaminates rearing their ugly heads".
You say 2 of the pics do not show up. See how that would be confusing. Which ones? They appear on my computer. Maybe you could tell me which ones do not show up and I can give them a fix.
