I know this does not rival any of ryches pics or anything, but mind you this was grown off a small casing made of 2 halfpint BRF cakes.

and i didnt let the cap open fully, so i dont know how much bigger it could have gotten.

Nice pics. Strain looks similar to my mexicubs but I've never had any grow that big.

This looks A LOT like Ryche's australian pictures. Is it an Australian?
Excellent pic. Do put the strain, growing method, etc. so we can all google at your success more thoughtfully.

yeah its my unidentified 393 strain. so until anyone can give me a confirmed strain. I shall now start calling it the 393 strain. this strain was brought to me from amsterdamn almost 4 years ago from a buddy of mine who was going there. i actually asked for the print before the firsttime i even expereinced the funky fungus. and so when the print arrived it just was labeld as cubes ( the full name, im just gettin lazy and i cant spell), and the optimum growing conditions, etc...and i have been growing it pretty much ever since.

i got a cambodian print from ralph that i have started nine cakes on (3 as cakes so that i make sure i have some backup prints, and 6 will be cased)

i also have a PCE print that i am waiting to try :) :)

as for growing method. oh before i begin on the growing method (nothtat is complex) i have to get some pics comparing the ry ecasings and the BRF casings. and also some pics of the growth of the myco on 50/50 millet, quoina mix. because the caps on the rye are much darker than the caps on the BRF.

anyways, that mushie came from two BRF cakes mad ethe standard mix. innoculated by spores. lef tto colonize then the cakes were broken up by hand. i took a small (loaf sized) aluminium pan, placed a thin layer of verm out the bag, sprayed it a few times with tap water. then placed the crumbled cakes in. then i took a premixed bascially 50/50 mix (its the seed starter from Scotts, found at home depot)
wet it, nuked it for about 8 minutes, then covered the casing.
placed the casing in my terrerium (there is a pic of what its like in my thread of "whos my daddy") let it sit there for a week or so. then when the layer was beginnning ot get colonized i just unplugged the fish tank heater for about 2 days (again if you look at the other thread , it will make sense) as a temp drop. and that was what i did for the first flush, after clearing the first flush i didnt really do anything, just sprayed the casing a few times to get it moist again (again with tap water)

so thats the basics

i also had 4 quart jars (1 jar per casing) of rye going. i got them to pin like mad (i mean like 300 pins or more in an area of like 4X8 or 5x8 inches) but i only got about 1.5 dry (oz not g) off the four casings, it left me a little dissapointed. two of the casings got contamed after the first flush.

so i should be starting some new casings soon (especially the millet/quoina ones, which i look very forward too, i will take some pics this weekend of what the growth looks like)

i also had two quart jars of rye that took longer to colonize (i think the had less water content) and so i made alarge but shallow casing of those two jars, they began to pin about two days ago, i dont expect monsters, but i do expect tons of smaller ones)

i hope my ramblings did some good
peace
