My ant colony harvested an 80g monster last night, biggest fucking thing they have ever seen!!!!

now upon yanking that sucker, and cutting off the bottom of the stem ( it took them some time, because they are sooo tiny.. ) they observed what appears to be rot!!! deep blue chunk, they cut this off right away, it only affected 1 cm or so of the bottom of the stem...

The casing surface seems fine, no bad smell detectable..  Could this be bruising ? would this be normal of HUGE shrooms.? I sure hope so.. cuz i'd hate to see an 80gram godzilla to to waste.....  :confused:

could easily be bruising. post pic if you can, but if it's blue i wouldn't be concerned. what did you grow that monster on?

2 gal blue rubbermaid , 1 quart of wbs, mixed with composted cow poop with humus ( as it says on the bag ) and straw, enough to fill it up to about 5 inches deep.

This was the 2nd flush, first was nice, avg 10 to 15 g wet shrooms ( each), but 2nd flush gave only 6 fruits, this monster 80g'er and 5 that range from 20 to 30 g's each. insane.!!!!!

Got no cam, need to borrow one, my ants are camera shy...

oh, measures aprox , 10 inches tall, stem 1.5 inches solid, not hollow. cap 4 inches in diameter not fully opened, ( the ants did not want a cloud of spores in their chamber.!!!! )

so,, back to the rot thing...

IF it was rot, would it rub off on a piece of paper. would it smell? cuz it did not.

God i hope it's a bruise!!!!!!!!!!!

so. no one has seen this before??

I wonder if the weight of that sucker could have caused it to bruise on the angle it leaned on??? this is the only factor i can think of.

My friend noted something similar at the base of this Maz beauty that he plucked this morning off a straw/dung casing:



He's sure it's simply bruising caused by the twisting pressure required to harvest it.  :smile:

can't really see the stems from that pic tho..

but. nice... my ant's looked about the same size, but had much darker cap.

That bluing is normal. It helps if you can twist the base before you pull without breaking the "trunk." :smile:
