the reason they are fat-asses may be because they dont know where to grow, perlite is bright, and they grow towards light, so maby shine a overhead light obover your station ?

What about the casing and how it's supposed to look? With fluffy mycelium or not growing on the top of the casing after placing in the terrarium.

you sound just fine, maybe a liitle too wet.
fat-assism is caused by too much water in the casing and it's normal to get some myc. on top but if it covers everything, that's overlay, caused by excessive humidity.
