a couple pics of my casings/cakes

Hey guys, here's my first attempt at growing (PFs and mexi) - sorry about the bad quality pictures, it's a webcam

1 - a nice little pin going from ONE cake cased with straight verm. The cake was originally contaminated so i took a chance and cased it individually. The casing has about 20 tiny pins in it (although you can't see them due to bad picture quality.

2 - Four cakes starting to pin (2 mexi, 2 PF)

3 - "The ultimate poor man's setup"... I know that cakes and casings shouldn't be in the same chamber, but hell, they're both pinning.

hey man i got a couple of questions for you i just cased my cakes the same way and i am going to leave some as full cakes.(first timer) when did you start exposing the casings to the light. and were you misting from the moment you cased them

I let the mycelium colonize for 4-5 days, then put them into the terrarium with light. During this time, I didn't mist at all, i just covered with saran wrap and put them in a dark spot. It may not be the best way to grow, but hell, it worked :) Hope I answered your questions. Good luck

another pic - two days later ... this little one-cake casing has LOTS of pins :) i'm excited -

one question ... i cased both mexi and PF separately in pie tins ... one of the casings has dark red caps on the pins, while the other is light brown caps. Can anyone tell me which is which? Thanks!
