I guess you shouldn't have got that big swastika tattoo. I don't blame them. Racist.

In small towns I had people get all butthurt over some ink but in NYC that's just crazy. I have Buddy's on a few fire departments who are working on there full sleeves and necks .

Everyones pretty much hit the nail on the head.

If you need the money and like your job, just don't complain and cover it, it honestly isn't that bad because you have to cover it..

If you don't, then tell 'em to fuck off and find a new one. It really is as simple as that.

I saw an episode of COPS the other night and one of them had sleeves and I thought he had gauged ears but I might be wrong about that part.

not to mention the fact that i plan on getting more!!  then what?

Why do we all have to bend over backwards and model ourselves plainly as possible just to have employment? People are different get over it. I went in for a job last week and was told in order to work there I needed to stop shaving my head, shave my beard completely off, take out my earrings, cover my tats and pee in a cup right after I modeled myself to look like every other mother fucker. this was just a job loading dishes in pizza hut! Whats wrong with diversity? People have different cultures and they should get over it.

For as long as there have been humans, humans have been trying to act/look/dress like other humans.

Guess what? You're not unique, you're just different from the squares at Pizza Hut.

There are plenty of bearded, pierced, inked up type people running around. Trust me, you are not unique.

His tats probably are unique.  And his point wasn't that he thinks he's special, it's that why should he dress a specific way to load dishes in the BACK of a restaurant.  Customers won't even see you there.

It's corporate protocol. That's their rules. Ask a pizza hut board member why you have to meet dress-code even in the back.

There are plenty of Off-the-grid communes that will allow you to have tattoos, if its that difficult to find work.

I dunno, I'd be mad at the guy that forced me to get tattoos if it made it that hard to get a job.

But shouldn't I have the personal freedom to be the person that I want to be? I'm not hurting anyone at all dressing the way I dress and doing what I do off the clock. I was pointing out how ridiculous it is that we are forced to conform to a society that doesn't realize that their way isn't the only way. It's ridiculous that they are allowed to run our lives like that for minimum wage washing dishes in the back. It's about control and nothing more.

Yep, you're absolutely right. Submission to control is the first step

Like I said, plenty of off-the-gridders that'd love to have you and don't care what you look like.

Also "You are not unique" sounds really mean but I mean it in the best way possible.

I know I'm not and I didn't take it offensively at all. I have seen plenty of people that look exactly how I present myself. I just need to look for a job in a place that is more like myself than Mr. Joe boring. I would be happier there anyways no doubt.

hell yeah! my life was saved by volunteer firefighter/emt's.  if I see them in restaurants/bars/etc now its not uncommon for me to pay for their meals, buy a round, etc.  same thing with soldiers at airports, if there is a soldier in front of or behind me in line at a eatery there, I'll pay for his food.  I do a lot of fucked up sketchy shit, so  this just kinda seems like the right thing to do.

Damn, that is lame...you'd think a bar, even a wine bar, wouldn't be so uptight about. Plus...your tattoo is so damn..*tasteful!* It's pretty, a cool color, DOESN'T SCREAM, and is in a pretty tucked away spot.  Nothing really unsavory about it...

Unfortunately I think everyone who said "either cover it and get paid or get a new job" pretty much has it right...and I think your decision depends a lot on how much you are liking the job.

When I got a molecule tattooed on my forearm I knew I was probably screwing myself out of some future employment possibilities...however, I also knew I wouldn't want to work any place that wouldn't hire me on such a silly basis.
