What does "spirituality" mean?

What things are spiritual?  Can an event be spiritual?  Is life spiritual all the time, or just some of the time?  Can things be anti-spiritual?

For me spirituality seems to be the lingering question of lost identity. Questions like "How can avoid becoming like the drunkards next door" or "How can i escape from mediocrity" reduce themselves to the spiritual question "who am I". Therefore events are spiritual when they synchronistically drive you toward that primal understanding, which is by definition subject to individual interpretation.

spirituality to me is traveling and thus shortening the tether that links you to your higher self.

To me, it's an umbrella term used to identify ideas which rely on a anti-materialistic worldview.

I'm kind of digging this "higher self" talk in relation to spirit.
But I think it's only half the story.

I imagine the yin yang, two parts make up the whole.
One of the higher realm, one of the lower realm.
One of the light, one of the dark.

Jung described it in terms of the numbers 3 and 4.
The trinity being the 3.
There is a trinity above, and a trinity below.
But these trinities emerge out of 4.

Imagine a square, a rectangle, a parallelogram -- something with 4 sides
Divide it in half with a diagonal line...
You get two triangles, pointing in opposite directions.
These are the two trinities that oppose each other.
They are both contained within a larger whole.

The spirit represents the power of the whole.
The power to birth both trinities.
And the dividing line is consciousness.

Thus, IMO, spirituality is the quest for the whole.
To cease identification with consciousness.
To stop seeing a split.

Materialistic in these sense that we are merely finite physical beings. Worldviews that have no room for spirit.

See, I can get down with that.  It's saying things like matter doesn't exist that rubs me the wrong way; even though all this might be demon Mara, the illusion of her existence still EXISTS in my opinion.

Something like this. In the end, the barrier between spiritual and anti-spiritual events must dissolve, even though currently it seems like some events are more spiritual than others. If you want to be spiritual, then don't attach to events, right? :smirk:

I do not know what the word spirituality means. Should I respond?

Can look up a definition and have met many people who claim to be spiritual.

When I have had experiences that are strange to me I try to be a skeptic. I've heard voices before (being vague) but it could also be a disorder rather than something else.

Trying not to be redundant.

It is knowing your true Self
So it is seeing everything is spiritual
Seeing that all that exists is spiritual, there is no contrast of physical/spiritual worlds

Yet on the relative level some physical things are more in tune with the spirit

Relatively i think its excellent to separate the spiritual & physical worlds
So you can 'find yourself', distinguish that you are eternal spirit, not a temporary form
But then abiding as that spirit all forms are included within that as expressions of yourself

So theres no separation

Just like you have to find Nirvana to get over Samsara
But then when you find Nirvana, they are not separate
