Personality Profiles in Psychonauts
    #12375035 -

I have been reading a lot about MBTI personality profiles and thought it would be interesting to do a poll among psychedelic enthusiasts, to see if certain types of people are more attracted to them than others.  You can take the test here: Personality Test Based on Jung- Myers Briggs Typology, then post your result in the poll.  Please only respond if you have some experience with psychedelics, and your interest goes beyond just casual/infrequent recreational use.  I am asking you to also include your gender since it will have a significant effect on the comparison with the general population. Thanks!

My initial predictions are that psychedelic users will be more introverted and intuitive than the general population. I'm an INFJ, by the way.
What is your gender?
You may choose only one
What is your personality type?

Unfortunately you are not able to have a proper sample of psychedelic users here on the net because we are all computer nerds too.  I would think that posting on forums strongly correlates to introverted which confounds the result.

Ha, the wikipeida on INTP and INTJ share notable members.  I suppose they are very similar (75% similar to be exact)

There are a few.

Well looks like you were right on the inuitives. 9/10 are intuitives so far.

I'm ENFP.

I don't know if you could say one type is more attracted to psychedelics then another. I would just say they are attracted for different reasons. Sensors probably are attracted to psychedelics more for the way it distorts their reality and probably are more likely to be the kind who "trip for fun". Whereas intuitives prob are more inclined to take psychedelics for spiritual reasons and look to take significant meaning out of their trips.

I'm sure sensors have spiritual trips too, but i wouldn't be surprised if its more intense for intuitives. I know when I'm on mushrooms sometimes I have to be alone for a bit because I consider it one of the best ways to examine yourself.

You are lucky because you are good at a variety of different things. In general you are successful at things you are interested in, however you do have a tendency to get bored easily and sometimes don't follow things through to completion. You should avoid jobs involv...ing detailed, routine tasks and focus of careers where you have the freedom and flexibility to be creative and interact with other people. You have natural leadership skills without the need to always be in charge. This coupled with your creativity and energy allows you to inspire others and make them willing to work with you.

This is so true for me. I really have to make a conscious effort to commit to things, because I have the tendency of jumping from one interest to the next. Sometimes I think its just ADD, but apparently its just part of my personality.

I think it was Markos who told me that you can never "change" your personality type. Whatever you born as, thats what you are for life. I dunno if I buy that. People can go through some pretty traumatic experiences in their life that greatly change their perceptions and world views. And I think people tend to go through different phases too.

When I first took the MTBI a few years ago I tested as an introvert, but I was going through some rough times and was mainly keeping to myself. I feel better now, and I test as an extrovert...

A menstruating woman would take this test and score differently, I would imagine, due to hormonal fluctuations and other biochemical manifestations of bitchiness.

Well I don't mean just answering the question differently. I mean I think people can undergo experiences that actually, permanently change their personality. Drugs would be a good example of how this could happen to someone.

Terri Schiavo is another good example. :vegan:
