The Living Desert pictures
    #12350037 -

On February 21, 2010 I went to the Living Desert in Indian Wells/Palm Desert. I'm a member there, I love that place.

Here are some of the pictures I took while there

Incorrectly labeled.

Cacti Garden

Made me think of y'all

Desert Tortoise

Some sort of cholla

Glochids galore. I didn't know these were a type of opuntia apparently

A bee

:bunnyhug:

Red tail hawk

Thanks to some planters I am now more diversified on the difference between ferocactus and echinocactus

Another cacti garden

Totem pole!

Spikes, yikes!

Out of nowhere...

Echinocereus. I think that planter says "Rainbow Cactus" on the bottom

There's a coati back there. He was adorable

Blurry bumble bee

Another EG

And now we enter the butterfly and hummingbird greenhouse

A little dark, but you can see a hummingbird in a nest

Pretty flowers with a butterfly flapping it's wings

Hope you enjoyed my pictures. If you're ever in the area let me know!

Shit I'm not too much better off being in Kentucky now, although it's been pretty hot here with temps in the 80's.

In my mountain pass area of so cali, I was splitting firewood in 110F.

If you know what you're looking for, it's still possible to find wild foods.

My only job prospects in the burbs have been DIY or unsurvivable.

I have come to believe that I would never be provided for, and legal hurdles are intended to make self sufficiency impossible.
