I have only just recieved the lophophora and don't know its age, I would say about 1 1/2 years from its size but I am not sure.

For soil I use John Inning's number 3 mixed with a shops own brand of cactus compost (50/50) + a few tbs of garden lime + handfull of grit sand mixed in.

Thats a nice Lophophora... How can you tell the difference between williamsi and diffusa? I thought Diffusa were the "smooth ones"

gd im pretty sure that diffusa, and williamsii look pretty much the same when they are young. its not till they are older, and near flowering age that the williamsii starts to look "rough"

Actually no, there are pretty noticable differences between diffusa and williamsii that are very obvious if you know what to look for. There are differences in shape and color. The one pictured above is definately a williamsii, for example.
