Can you patten a drawing technique?

Can an artist patten his techniques he uses to do their art? Or can anyone just copy it?

nope, you can't patent your technique anyone can copy you.  a patent is only issued in one of three categories:  utility (objects, items, and things), design (not the technique), and plant.

now if you had a legit company, you could file your technique as a trade secret, but that still doesn't prevent anyone from reverse engineering your technique.
