as far as techniques go.. i became a lot better by using grids to draw.. if that makes sense to you.. taking a picture.. making it into squares.. making the squares either the same size or larger onto another piece of paper and then copying what you see.. this really helped me.. esp for proportions and what not.. hope this helps

No doubt man, just pick up a pencil and practice. Some people get better at it quicker than others, but all ya need is practice.

You could always go to art school too.

depends what you want to accomplish with your art.. its up to you what to draw.  maybe start "tracing" some other already drawn pieces that you like, until you have the skills to start developing your own style.

*tracing meaning looking at the picture and drawing what you see, not putting a piece of paper over the picture and tracing

But what really matters is: "Why do I feel the need to be artistic?". If a certain imbalance in your life/lifestyle is "pulling" you towards artistic expression, then explore other "artistic" ventures. You can draw just a good a picture with your voice, lol. Also, an art-form can be designed around anything.

And remember...True art can only flow when the art-form naturally flows through the artist. You cant be a medium of art, if your concentrating on what your doing, instead of just letting it flow. When I start a sketch, I don't approach the pen and paper with any idea at all.

I just start with basic shapes. At one moment, I might think I'm drawing a eyeball. 5 minutes later, that "eyeball" is a cogwheel of a machine, lol. I never know what I'm drawing, till I'm done.
