Couldn't find it. Why not just quote the fucking thing.

"To be attached means that you identify with your role as the GIVER of help. This in turn casts the person as the role of the RECEIVER  of help..... Such identification with roles may fill bellies, but it increases human distance. A conscious being knows there is neither giver nor receiver... there are only empty bellies, storehouses of wheat... and effort required to move wheat from the storehouses to the belly. It is OUR wheat, OUR belly, OUR effort. And when all this energy has been transferred, a conscious being realizes that nothing has happened. Thanks are absurd..."

This is obviously bullshit, as someone who gives and someone who receives assumes the role of a giver and a receiver respectively, regardless of whether or not that role is temporary.

If a billionaire gives you a million dollars, was there any effort on your part involved?

I agree that saying thanks is sort of unnecessary at times, but it's ridiculous to say that "energy has been transferred" while also saying that "nothing has happened"; obviously, the transference of energy happened, and it's something.

It's one thing to simply enjoy a style of life that one enjoys, but it's another thing altogether to refer to another person's choice as "wrong" or to rationalize their behavior as being pathological or resulting from some sort of inadequacy or failing so as to create a sense of superiority or separation as yet another projection of a personal fear or control issue.

i hear you poid...    maybe if you're dealing with like Buddhist types of people this could all be true but this philosophy probably wouldn't work good for most people...      Ram Dass' philosophy can be kind of pretentious i think, nice as it may sound

that's why I like the word namaste so much better

it can be translated into something like "All that is best and highest in me greets/salutes all that is best and highest in you."

there's only one entity that's thanking/saluting itself all the time

:sun:

Well it's literally false regardless of who you're dealing with, but I think that most Buddhist sayings are meant to be taken symbolically, rather than literally.

I agree. Yet when I saw him speak in person it certainly looked like he was very attached to his role. But that makes sense as I believe we usually talk it up more then we live it up.
