I'm actually kinda looking forward to watching society burn, so long as i stay alive. I'm quite happy to kill a human and eat it if neccessary so hopefully I should do alright. I just hope society burns really hard and fast and it's not just some slow boring bread and water escapade.

Life is all about experience after all.

:ilold:  Not sure if you were actually being serious or not but... yeah.
Also, you refer to a human as "it"? lol

Have you seen the movie "The Road" ? It's about a journey a father and his son take through a post-apocalyptic landscape.  There's one scene where they stumble upon this house in the fields and it turns out the people that live there keep humans in the basement like chickens in order to kill and eat them.  It might something you could look into after the economy collapses.

Well mate, IMO in nature we are all just a bunch of "its" and do what we can to survive. Nature isn't all flowers and fairies and IMO that's just the way it is. I wouldn't blame any human for eating me if he needed the food, I'll be a corpse soon anyway.

That's funny, I imagine however eating human for the first time would be challenging. Especially cleaning and butchering the carcass.

In a collapse like that I doubt staying alive would be a lot of fun. Like being in a war that won't go away. I think I would try to get as far away from everything and everybody as I could. Just try and survive through the summer if one is lucky enough to get there in that season. In winter it's a no go at my age even with my survival skills.

It would be mostly sad I think. The promise of life crushed by something truly brutish and ugly. If it really happens I guess we will wish it hadn't. On the other hand I'm not thrilled with things as they are now.

IMO we're going to always be between a rock and the hard place. At least that's been true for me although I've had some real fun here too.

But here's the thing and where I made a grave mistake. When I was living those great times I was thinking things were going to get better and something better was waiting out there for me and so I was always looking at the future. I would have appreciated those times more had I known they were the best of times and I was peaking. Remember that.

Well, I could imagine that eating humans is necessary under extreme circumstances, and it's been done. But you mentioned you'd kill them, so I was assuming you'd go marauding around killing humans for their meat.  If that's the case, I'll be sure to  run away as fast I can :runaway:

Is there anything wrong with what I said? Isn't it true that the world economy is weaker today than since back then? Is the risk of hyperinflation in the US stronger today than in 1994? Also yes.

We're at risk of deflation, not hyperinflation.  Hyperinflation only happens in countries that owe a large debt in a currency other than their own(hint: our debt to China is in U.S. dollars).

As for the Marxist comment, I apologize.  Your attacks on capitalism and admiration for Slavoj Zizek gave me that impression.

I'm sure it would be a life changing experience, it would probably be better than psychs for confonting death anxiety haha but I'd give it a go if needs be. Maybe I'll turn in to the first spiritual serial killer "fuck psychedelics, killing human gives me a much better afterglow!" (joking of course, well, sort of )

No well I'm sure I wont paticularly enjoy economic meltdown but theres a big part of me that is interested to see how things unfold and hopefully it'll be quick and fast. Also this earth would probably be much better if a disaster was a good enough one to wipe out about 90% of humans, I just hope I come out on the other side.

Well, I'm planning on taking some lessons in survival because I love the outdoors and camping and want to be able to go for extended periods of time and take a trip to norway. I can probably just hole up in Scotland or something, the elements aren't exactly arctic down in the UK, and the highlands is very empty with plenty of salmon which has gotta be my favourite fish anyway hehe. However we'll see how things pan out.

At the end of the day when that survival adreneline kicks in I'd imagine there are quite a few humans that can survive in the wild better than they thought.

Yeh, I've been thinking about this a lot, just check my sig . Words don't always translate to actions though and I keep thinking I can hide if I do this or that but that sense is slipping away more and more these days. Plus, Body Scan seems great for staying in the moment  I just gotta get my qi gong on!

I think it's interesting that so many people are eager to buy gold these days. It seems that it's in preparation for something economically disastrous. After all, our money is basically worthless paper. It doesn't have a permanent value assigned to it, unlike gold.  :egyptian:

People in Europe have had to eat each other in our lifetime. Middle class people. Some of them killed themselves after they took a bite of their children's flesh.

If the economy collapsed and all went to hell you'd ideally avoid most of Eurasia and North America. Micronesia might be good. Should we sit here with nautical charts clenched in our fists and stroking our rifles in hope we'll survive?

Yeh it would be a pretty damn intense experience, basically you'd either go mad or confront your fear and increase your happiness. Depends on what sort of person you are I suppose. Hopefully I don't have to find out and I can just smoke some salvia or something instead.

In my experience with survival training and working with other people it's been quite the opposite. Especially if the climate has harsh seasons with little winter food. No I think there would be lots of cannibalism going on under these conditions. The closer to population centers the uglier.

True. It just seems that gold has always had a higher value than most natural resources. Although historically not all cultures have placed a high value on it. Humans seem to be naturally attracted to it for some odd reason.

No gold for me. You need comfort items for trade in a total collapse. Cigs, booze, drugs, chocolate,  junk food, ammo, etc.
