Possible economic collapse in the next few years?
    #11896349 -

First, read/watch this link:

If that's to believed, we very nearly reached economic collapse.  Now, the economy is somewhat stabilized though the banks have been essentially propped up by massive government buy-ups.  The problem is that some observers are arguing we only delayed a collapse as the government went into massive debt rescuing banks and investors.

I have a feeling our system is patently unsustainable for any appreciable length of time.  At the same time, my anti-panic self keeps re-assures me I just might be being alarmist...

So my question is, do you think there will be an economic collapse  within the next decade (not just a recession/depression but a full blown collapse) ?

My crystal ball is really pretty miry these days, but I'd say....maybe.

Srsly, everything is in place for a full-scale collapse, but then again, mankind has proven more flexible than I imagined one or two times already, so we might be able to squelch the next crisis as we basically did with this one.

How do you figure?  Declining wages, houses sitting on the market, families tightening their fiscal belts - this all points to deflation.

I dont expect economic collapse in the next few years.

The risk of collapse is greater now that it's been since the 1930's. We're at the brink of hyperinflation.

I find it interesting how this economy has brought Marxists and libertarians together to be wrong about the same things.

Capitalism is not free market.

Capitalism inherently leads towards Corporatism with a Government.

Corporatism is not exclusive from Socialism. :strokebeard:

Interesting thoughts.  Although, supposing there was an economic collapse, it doesn't seem like there would be anything anyone could do to weather it.  I read a howto guide to survive the collapse and it suggested basically forming something like a commune, which I think is about right.  Although, I can't even imagine myself living on a commune  :shrug2:

I  can imagine it causing civil war or all sorts of fun. I'm glad I'm not starting out in life right now. That would be a real bummer. Wouldn't be a bad idea to have about four to six months of food stored. A few weapons for getting rid of the neighbors and killing the odd dog to eat. It would certainly be an interesting situation considering the skill levels of the average overweight over fed, citizen. Let's wait and see what happens.
