Well, I have always maintained that turnovers are the most important influences on the outcome of a football game, but the Saints gave up, not yards, but acres of real estate as if there was a foeclosure auction.  And the penalties were just a further indication of how disgracefully sloppy both teams were.  I expected better from these two and I am quite sure we will get better from the Saints next week.  If we don't, they will probably get embarrassed.  Peyton Mannning isn't an over-the-hill risk taking lunatic.

Im glad someone else finally thinks the Saints got handed that game. Minnesota killed themselves that game. And not just Favre

Neutral field, I have got to think Peyton and the Colts win

You seem to forget that most of those turnovers were forced turnovers.  I know it often looks like the other team just hands the ball over, but most of that is just good defense.

Who else got that many turnovers on the Vikes this season?

That's true. A couple of those 6-7 fumbles came from good defense. The other 4-5 came from poor execution and cost them yards and downs. I dont know if I have ever seen 1 team fumble so much in a game

Even a turnover producing, ball hawking monster shouldn't count on more than 3 or maybe 4 turnovers a game.  The Vikings were very very shitty at taking care of the ball.

That doesn't mean the Saints were handed the game.  You take the plays as they happen.  Sometimes neither team has a very good game.  That was Sunday night.  The team that sucked the least won.

that's the way the saints play. all season they've relied on their defense to create turnovers. that typically will never work, but it's seemed to be their mo this season. payton talked before the game about the importance of ball security and forcing turnovers. i would say if that's what you needed for you to win, it would not work, yet its gotten the saints to the superbowl.

For the year the Saints were +11 in turnover differential.  That's total.  0.7 per game.  It's good enough for 3rd best in the league but you can't count on it in any one game.

The line just moved two more points in the Colts favor.  I would have taken Ind. and 3.5, but no way in hell would I give NO 5.5 points.

The Colts looked good this season, but they were playing in the AFC for gods sake.  The AFC sucks.

Hopefully the Saints can get pressure on Manning. The last two games their pass rush has re-emerged and they absolutely brutalized Warner and Favre with one looking up at them lights and both were flat on their back at times. Seems having Greer back is having it's desired effect since he and Porter can cover one-on-one freeing up others to rush the qb.

I haven't seen the Colts play much this year but they do seem to protect Manning very well. We'll see.

Would also like to see a bit more running game considering who we're playing I would like to eat up clock rather than have Manning doing his thing.

I read the Saints-Vikings game was the most watched game of its kind in over 28 years. So I'm expecting similar things for the Super Bowl. Two best teams. Two best quarterbacks. Good stuff.

:crazy2:

Which is why the AFC has won 8 of the past 10 superbowls?

The AFC has always been the same in terms of who the contender teams are.

The same teams which have been making the playoffs ten years ago are still making them now.

I think the difference is the NFC's gotten alot better, with the emergence of the NFC East.

The East is definitely the NFC's strongest and most competitive division.  It doesn't always have the best team, but Eagles, Giants, and Cowboys together are better than the groups in other divisions.

yeah, way to generalize an entire conference of teams into one phrase.

i guess every team in the AFC is a bore because the Saints rule so hard.

The NFC has some emerging powerhouses that look like they will be contenders for years to come.

Who outside of the Saints in the NFC is an emerging powerhouse? The only one I can think of is GB (and maybe Dallas). Giants, outside of their miracle run, haven't been that impressive. I don't know if the Falcons are as good as everyone thought they were.

Minnesota - No, unless they get a decent QB to replace Favre.

Arizona - No, unless they get a decent QB to replace Warner.

Philly - I think they've done as much as they're going to do with Mcnabb.

I think GB will do really well if they work on their O line. aaron rodgers is a great qb, if he had more than .2 seconds to throw the ball he would rock shit.

You really can't have a great team without a truly great QB.

Assuming Favre and Warner are out, the Cards and the VIkes are going to have a very tough season next year, especially since they will be so low in the draft.  I would bet right now that neither team will make the playoffs next year, unless they get a lucky pick on a  QB or their current QB's stay.
