I am thinking about taking my little video camera and making a documentary about homelessness. Considering I am a sober single mother whose homelessness was begun when the police refused to remove my abusive baby-daddy from our house, and children's services ordered that I keep the baby away from him, upon threat of removing my child from me, but with NO fucking place to go.

The intent of the film will be to show that the farming out of kindness and compassion to charities and govt agencies, is a ridiculous system that doesn't work. The welfare office can't help me, cuz my kid has no birth certificate, blah blah bureaucratic BULLSHIT. The birth certificate is on hold with the state where he was born, because they cannot verify my address, since I don't have one, some MORE bureaucratic BS designed to make sure I am not filing for a birth certificate fraudulently for a terrorist.

The only ones to ever make a difference are others who have been or ARE still homeless or down on their luck themselves, because they are the only ones who are aware that being homeless doesn't mean you are a huge fucking loser.

Anyhow, I think I can really raise awareness about the whole "charities will deal with the poor mindset" thing. Human kindness and interaction is one of those necessary things to community, and community is really what our society is missing...

my advice to the homeless is to get a job. make sure you add that in the documentary.

Yeah because it's super easy to get a job in this economy especially when you don't have an address or a phone or a place to shower.

yea being homeless sucks. And i agree that the only people who care are the ones who dont have much money because they know what it feels like to be down and out. Rich people could give a fuck. But i have yet to have a problem with food stamps or any other government assistance for that matter. Maybe you didnt fill your papers out properly. Dont tell the truth...say what will get you the most.  And being homeless becomes is a slow death and noone can help you but yourself. no your government wont do a damn thing for you even though they are the reason you are homeless because of their fucked up systems but....certain things in life you just have to deal with. Do what you have to and pull through that shit. Theres a much better day around the corner. It dont last forever. it cant.  The documentary thing on the homeless has been done time and time again. but if you feel you are going through something truly unique and people need to be aware of it (homelessness....people dont give a shit no matter how you look at it....all they think is "get a job you lazy bum...crackhead piece of shit , not even thinking that some of those people actually have been trying and arent pieces of shit but are just down on their luck), then go for it.Successto you. People say "get a job" but for some reason they think you can just fill out a single application and get a job like magic. its not that easy. Shits hard. For all of those people I say shut the fuck up and kep going your own way because you are more of a piece of shit than the crackhead homeless who beg for quarters for their next fix. We are all Humans...have a heart. You never know when that five bucks you threw in the cup will come back to you.

ANYBODY can get a job if they try hard enough. stop kidding yourselves. yeah the economy sucks right now, and a lot of the jobs that yielded good income are gone, but if you try you can get a source of income. period.

I wonder what kind of legal situation I would find myself in if I recorded all of my interactions with the welfare office, the vital records office and shelters that don't allow women or children. FUCK the YWCA where I am at won't allow children even.

I didn't file my paperwork wrong, they are holding out on his birth certificate. And his birth certificate is holding out on me having a "verifiable address", which is kind of dependent on me having income, which without gainful employment can only come from the welfare office. Do you see what i mean? Bureaucratic bullshit.

maybe you should of thought ahead before you had a kid you couldn't support. condoms? abortions? the kid could have been prevented. i see so many poor ass people who are only poor because they chose to have kids at the wrong time.

but ill stop hassling you and try to help, because i can sympathize with your situation. i know it must be very hard for you, harder than most. dont you have any family members at all? or close friends? there must be someone you know that likes kids enough to watch yours for a few hours a day.

for some people its a life style choice..i lived homeless in lake worth florida for about 4 months but i lived in a little homeless community in the woods there was tarps in the trees used as roofs to shelter us from the rain and there was a gas grill to cook food..cooler for beer..wood chips on the floor to soak up moisture and act as a floor..we also had real beds and everything most of the people there including myself worked at a labor hall..it wasnt really that bad I look back at it now as an experience.."DISCLAIMER" watch out for raccoons there crafty fucking bastards who will steal your food when your sleeping

Yeah fuck that!! I had this friend who got arrested for peeing on a tree when he was homeless, and the park bathroom was locked. I remember thinking that men have been pissing on trees ever since there have been men and trees...

your post is just filled with excuses. sure all of those things make it HARD to find a job, but definitely not impossible. like i said anyone can get a job if they try hard enough.

I got arrested for peeing behind a building once by a bike cop. First thing in the morning I walk back there to relieve myself.
She follows me back behind there and says "you think I didnt know what you went back here to do?" I says "What does it look like Im back here doing? Im taking a piss!" She says "you think you can just pee anywhere you want?"

Another time in Denver I got arrested for tieing up my dog while I went to go take a shit. (which was all of but 3 minutes)

Fuck Denver, Ill never go back there.

The idea that there are always going to be enough optional jobs in an economy for all to have one is short sighted and naive. By optional I mean jobs ther give you enough to live. Just because you make seven dollars an our doesn't mean shit if you work fifteen hours a week, and working the full fourty for minimum wage is still not enough to have any sort of decent life.

I wont take this at face value though. Assuming you are a fit mom, abuse should be taken seriously. When the police don't do shit, you go to the courts and articulate your case. Then again, it seems more and more people can't speak for shit(typing not withstanding), so you might be one of those. Was Children's Services just the person coming over to inspect? That's not the court. Then there are shelters who will help(like Every Woman's Place). I'd rather live in a shelter then on the street myself.

Well, piss in an ally or the woods. I'd arrest someone pissing in the park too. Niping petty crimes was the first step to the New York crime reduction in the 90's and Newark in NJ today. A proven model. I know it's a bunch of anti-gov people here, but I don't want homeless people killing the soil in my parks. Some are unlucky, some mentally ill, but they should sort out the ones who don't have a legit reason to be messing up our communities and lock em up. You are obviously NOT on that list. Single mothers need all the help they can get. That's what we do in some places to law abiding illegal immigrants who do contribute.

I tried for a year with at least an interview every two weeks, usually 2-3 interviews a week and had no luck.
After a while I realized that I was unemployable and started working for myself, doing my own hours and making my own money. I started my own business.
Thats really the only way to succeed if you are unemployable.

Its not that I was too picky or that I was applying to glamorous high paying positions.
Warehouses, restaurants and gas stations all refused to hire me(some of them refused outright, some only after a background check).
