Holy shit, my computer is being eatet alive!

Seriosuly... no, not seriously, but close enough. I got this problem with it and theres nothing I can do... without your help, that is.

Any time I use Internet Explorer it goes to a certain page with a bunch of search links. I can't change my homepage either. The problem is getting worse, now IE barely ever works and lags when it does. It took me an hour to get to this page.

My suspicion is that spyware has something to do with this. Not hard to figure out considering I have NO spyware removal or virus detection program AT ALL! Can someone link me to a downloadable, free one? I'll try to check back later, if I can.

Anti virus is k3y....this shit happened to me too.

I think it was the trojans, because the adware killers didn't do shit.

Avast has always solved all my problems, and home users can register it for free, which is the shit.

This is great, thanks to all the help here. I was out of town and my roomate visited every nasty porn site on the net and got all kinds of spyware and pop ups on my system.

its got to be a trojan, same shit is goin on with my IE. always goes to a search engine when i use it. Im using Mozilla right now but it would be nice to remove the extension hijack Spybot keeps finding... God I hate viruses.

to stop broswer hijacking and catch spyware BEFORE it happens - http://www.javacoolsoftware.com/spywareguard.html
and get its companion - http://www.javacoolsoftware.com/spywareblaster.html

To remove browser hijacks and search bars use CW shredder

then there is always spyware nuker.. ad-aware, and spybot and Spysweeper for you all purpose spyware killing..

if that doesnt work nothing will. oh yeah and get firefox.

I admit to going to a few porn sites, I never had any problems with the ones I've been to. I actually don't know how he did it, I've never once had a problem with pop ups, spyware untill I left this thing alone.

FOUND IT!

Avast found the trojan that messes with IE: Win32StartPage-006[trj]

it infects the startup and win32 dll files, infected files cannot be repaired with avast, only deleted. although i think deleting the windows dll files isnt such a good idea, there was a fix program i found called "SpHjfix" that removed this problem.

Wow i just ran Spy-subtract on my new PC and it found 25 suspects on my registery alone...Ad-Aware missed all of these
