How to connect electric/bass guitar to MIDI controller?

I've got an M-Audio Ozone which obviously has midi...

I'm running it into ableton and other software synthesizers.  Just wondering how I would connect the guitar and set it up in ableton or the synths.

plug it into one of the 1/4 inputs... plug the controller into the computer

You want to switch the input channel on ableton to the 1/4" input.

MIDI data is not transferred by guitars and basses.

Ableton was a crappy recording program when I used to mess around with this sort of stuff though.

Look into protools or another rcording program IMO.

this isn't for recording, mostly messing around.

yeah, but otherwise i love ableton.. it's interface is so friendly and attractive.

There are Audio>MIDI pickups for guitar. Guitar is a blast to control Live with.
Axon is much better than Roland but Axon of course is more expensive.

will need buy some more stuff.  my buddy is so crazy on guitar i want us to fuck around with some of these synths and beats.  currently have an m-audio ozone, just ordered an m-audio x-session pro :smile:

what hardware you having fun with?
