hey with the DADDAD tuning, which direction do you tune the G to...it seems like if you go up, the tensions gonna be too high, and if you go down, you'll lose all the tension.

i've never used DADDAD tuning.. what bands use it?
blastrid, i always do hammer on exercises, it really does work your forarm. more often than 0-2-3 i do 0-12-13, i think it works the same. are you talking about the band Triad from San Diego, or something else?

always tune down... bottom E down 1 step to low D A D G down to that same D B down to A & the top E down to D DADDAD ~ been used by joni mitchel, & by david crosby, & by buzzy linhart, & prolly a few folkie-types in the biz... ~ i like it cuz the harmonics can be picked out & blend nicely... & you can bar-chord, or bar-4, or just play melody on top E & a harmony on that A right next to it... (but you can chase those scales right on down to that bottom string... some tab fingering for DADDAD tunig can be found on somebody's online posting of david crosby's ong "music is love" do a googlesearch - or on some of the jonie mitchel pages... just gotta poke around...) strumming & tripping, teasing out some dylan or dead or byrds or donovan or whatever seems to work... ~ ymmv... ~ ~

I had a Fender Squire for 5 years until I got that Gibson....talk about shit.
HAHAHAHA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I was left at my friends house last night while he went somewhere and was told "go ahead, record mix ..play whatever you want I will be back"
I thought that all of a sudden I sucked when I used that fender squire, things REALLY WERE HARDER, and I hate the placement of the pickupss , totally LAME.
anyway good to hear that there are more people then me that think that guitar sucks
I like your gibson, personally I an Epiphone(which is Gibson's CHEAP line of guitars, as I am sure you already know)

far from impossible friend, I am doing it on my acoustic right now! It is far easier with dropped D though..
if you are messing with different tunings, let it flow and make up your own. you will make some cool alien harmonies that scream originality!

"far from impossible friend, I am doing it on my acoustic right now!"
could you play a FULL concert like that?????
I know things that can be played well in drop D or whatever CAN be played in standard , however it doesnt sound as good, an if its not the wasy the artist made it , the only point I could see in doing it would be going "check this out, look what I can do, its hard to do......but I CAN DO IT"
(not that I assume that what you, shaggy101, were trying to do, I cant even see you.

ya I know what you mean. I have written songs with power chord hammer-pulls and they are in standard though, although most ar in dropped D..I also usually use my ring finger and pinky to play power chords, I dont think I have seen anyone else use there pinky.
..anyway it is really hard to hammer-pull 2 fingers at once, things get really fun when you try 3
The way I learned was playing metallica solos(mainly off ride the Lightning, Master of Puppets, and And Justice...)
I would just slide when itsaid hammer-pull..then I got mad and finally learned how to do it right..once you ge it you really appreciate it because you get that cool snappyness with harmony..although some things are impossible without throwing in the tap hand peace and shroomyness

I know exactly what you mean, a few weeks of playing my Les Paul has made me feel 10 times better, I can just move so much faster around the fret board.
