Re: Your opinion on fundamentalists 1 [Re: Lakefingers]

My opinion on fundamentalists is the same as my opinion of anyone that follows a religion. They are letting fear lull them into believing in a fantasy of immortality. Death doesn't need to be disrespected in this way. It is the ultimate defining thing in our lives.

Quote:
Every bit of knowledge that becomes power has death as its central force. Death lends the ultimate touch, and whatever is touched by death indeed becomes power. -- Carlos Castaneda

"A warrior is a hunter. He calculates everything. That's control. Once his calculations are over, he acts. He lets go. That's abandon. A warrior is not a leaf at the mercy of the wind. No one can push him; no one can make him do things against himself or against his better judgment. A warrior is tuned to survive, and he survives in the best of all possible fashions." ― Carlos Castaneda

The problem with religion...or a belief in immortality is that death cannot touch it in life...it is denial of death.

The cool thing is that those people will die unfulfilled...unless it is all true...in that case I may be fucked...lol.

If you choose to post in this forum be prepared to have your ideas and opinions challenged, refuted, disputed, rebutted, analyzed, shredded, pooh-poohed, and yes - even supported. If having your beliefs, opinions, and positions scrutinized critically makes you uncomfortable, this is not the forum for you.

Thanks for not answering my question.

I agree with all you posted in this post but the last part.  Yes, the forum is described that way, but it isn't anything out of the ordinary.  That is, of course, unless someone can make the case that debating doesn't occur in some forum here.  Which means that you will encounter this everywhere.  I would even go so far as to say anywhere on the Internet.  What is doesn't mean is that everyone is required to debate or even answer a question.  If that were the case mine would have been answered and wasn't.

Debate is everywhere; no one is required to debate.

If debate is everywhere how do so many people get out of it?

Um, might I be one to say that even the suggestion of banning people for views they rightly or wrongly hold is completely stupid and unproductive?  Let them come, let us question, let them learn.

I think this is not even worthy of a sticky honestly, absolute garbage, no offense lakefingers.

I was just kidding as anything I say is just an opinion and I've stated mine plenty here.:satansmoking:

But how many would leave this world without any regrets at all? Nothing they wish would have happened  or happened more? Even christians seem to fear death and they claim amazing rewards thereafter.
