I understand what you are saying.  If someone is interested in psychology, listening to people might give them an idea of what makes them tick. From what I see most of the anti-Christians just don't want anything to do with anything Christian.  To be honest, I don't care for Religion. There are a lot of fanatics, religious ones just get lumped in the same group as all the other fanatics. When you have fanatics from both sides arguing a point, it's going to get emotional. Both sides claim they are right, neither side has any proof. If both sides talk, maybe someone will learn something.  I don't see how eliminating an idea from discussion can be a positive approach.  :peace:

As the issue is completely out of line with the message board policy, I refuse to answer such an asinine poll.  You don't ban anyone for holding a view point.

I went through this with Markosthegnostic last week and he bailed out on the discussion. The true/false distinction is just too low.

What true/false distinction?

IMO not at all by just being a fundamentalist. It's in flaming, avoiding discussion. People do get warnings or banned for this, but people have suggested in several threads I've been following that fundamentalists should be banned more lightly for this, because of the history they have in the forum of what seems to be more frequently breaking forum rules by flaming and maliciously derailing threads, etc.

To me it doesnt seem like its religious fundamentalists that derail the threads round here...

But that requires they follow forum etiquette and actually discuss and debate, instead of dodging the topics by mocking others, posting videos that 'speak for themselves', claiming to have knowledge that proves their ultimate truth but never posting this, by deflecting actual conversation in tirelessly stating everyone misunderstood them but providing no clues when asked as to how to understand them...

You are so full of shit it's coming out of your ears buddy.  Total slander of LifeUponDeath.  You are a scoundrel and a liar.  He was not guilty of ANYTHING you said here, in fact he was doing the opposite.  Have some integrity.

Absolutely.  I was actually thinking of reporting lakefingers because he is SO biased and unfair.  His intent seems not to moderate fairly but to prove his point and pick on those who disagree firmly with him.

There are very close-minded people in P,S,P but it's coming from both ends.  I think your title should be taken from you Lakefingers.  And don't try to say that it is because you have warned me (rather quickly i might add) of my "preaching" ways.  Because I have received warnings from other mods and actually thanked them for letting me know I was doing something wrong and laughed about it with them.

Everyone in psp preaches their beliefs and you let anyone and anything but scripture to be quoted.  Like the man said, people can quote things from Buddhist  doctrine all they want and say they believe it is THE truth and you do nothing.  Others get heated constantly and try to PROVE their point is absolutely true and they are also not banned.

It is okay to call it truth and you are accepting as long as it doesn't involve Christ. You allow certain people to get away with things all the time and reprimand others almost immediately.

You sir, are partial in your Judgement.

You are right, this isn't about Obliviousseeker and Life upon death, this is about your intolerance of anything and everything Christian.  This is about you and Life Upon Death and your pig-headed and stubborn judgemental power trip.  Thank you for making it so obvious to anyone who is willing to see what's going on with you.  You say that fundy's are intolerant and yet you are the one seeking to bann people.

Bann me, I don't care.  I had to speak out against the injustice in this forum, Mainly, YOU

Thank you for your critisism, it means I am doing something right,

I think the main difference between quoting scripture and other sources is their content.

Most scripture passages are something along the lines of 'and God said...' and although it may hold substance to a believer of said god, it does not mean anything to one who does not believe.

If you quoted a scripture passage that used reasoning and logic to reach its conclusions, not a commandment of god, then I think the passages would find much more acceptance here, as they would have substance for all readers.

All quotes are held to this standard. Ime, many buddhist passages use a very strict logic and reasoning to reach their conclusions, and this logic is able to be openly discussed and debated. If the passage just stated 'and Buddha said...' than it would hold zero substance to everyone here too and should be treated the same way as any other substanceless quote.

My two cents is that this forum is a forum for ideas not ideologies.

With that said, I'd prefer a more laissez faire approach to dealing with fundies.  It makes for fun reading.

I voted no in the poll.

I initially voted yes, but upon thinking about it it strikes me that what makes this from quite unique is its laissez faire free market of ideas attitude. While I am irritated by fundamentalists and din their views disgusting everyone does have a choice whether or not to debate them and it can be quite illuminating to see those debates where the fundamentalist positions are spotlighted by reason and completely crushed.
