How to ease the pain while getting a tattoo?

Basically my girl wants to get her first tattoo today but doesn't want to deal with much pain. Would it be a good idea to give her some benzo's?

Not sure about opiates. I've been told directly by my regular artist that xanax is the best method of pain and anxiety relief for tattoos.

benzos don't relieve pain


opiates do

but those are also blood thinners which means she will bleed a lot.

In my experience thats bad because it scabs over fucks up the tattoo and you need to get it redone.


So go sober and let the endorphins do the work. Plus it doesn't hurt that bad.

I've always gone sober or blazed. Weed makes the pain worse

I disagree. It does hurt, but its tolerable pain.

Maybe I'm just fat. :sad: Really, the only one that 'hurt' was on my ankle. Rest were more 'annoying'.

As far as the pain, most (legit) tattoo artists won't work on you if you look messed up, so don't let her take that much. :thumbup:

For me it only hurt for a few minutes then the spot kinda went numb.  After that it was just mild pain and a weird sensation of pressure.  I say tell her to do it sober.
