I'm going to get tattoos.

The other day I was in Dallas smoking a blunt and taking shots of crown royal outside of a tattooo shop with some friends. I got to talking with some of the artists there and anyway...I think I'm going to get tattoos. Maybe I should get them all over my body and never work a "normal" job again.

Just the thought about putting stuff on my body that will be there until the day I die (and after) really gets me going.

Start out with places that you can cover up. The back is a good place to start.

i would say i am 25% tattood. Just make em count.

I am not disapointed that i got the ones i got. I just wish i thought of the bigger picture before getting some done, because nw what i want to do, can't be done as easily. Do to me jumping around and not figuring out what i wanted my body to look like.

I hear that. I sometimes think about tats I would like to have gotten in place of the ones that are there now. But I'm satisfied with what I have, and I'll work with it.

I partially agree. I don't think there's anything wrong with lower back tattoos on a woman(I find them very sexy), but I do think that tribal tats are way overdone. Get something that has meaning for you.

yeah i guess all mine have some sort of meaning to them, but what i care most about is who is doing it, and the amount of skill they have along with.

Avoid the ever so trendy tramp stamp. If your going to get tattoo on your lower back, just go in for the "flavor of the month" special, they will give you a tramp stamp, tongue ring, breast implants, and navel piercing all for one low low price!!

The so-called "whore-brand" above the ass I'm assuming.

Kielbasa had a good point when he suggested thinking of the bigger picture. Also, select your artist carefully and talk with him/her for awhile before hand to insure you're getting quality work.

My brother has about 25% of his skin inked too, and he had to spend a lot of time and money altering older tats to make a more presentable whole with his last couple pieces.

I've thought about getting meaningful logic gates and patterns done over chakras and accupressure meridians before, but it's awfully expensive and I just don't think any actual work would live up to my expectations.

I know a few local artists. The guy that i and Heidi got our tats from is good for smaller less detailed shit, but my buddy Eric has some friends that are really amazing artists. You should check out some of there work.

I agree about tribal tats, they dont do much for me, done well, they look pleasing to the eye but soooo many people get tribal stuff!!

I've never really wanted one but i love the art and the idea of using your body as a blank canvas.
This is the only tattoo i have (except the odd dot on hands and random places):

I understand that you want to get something with meaning attached, but you dont necessarily need to get something that has meaning to last the rest of your life. I think of the ones I have (only 5) and most I wouldn't get if I went in today. They still have meaning though, they're visual milestones that track my mental progression over the last 13 years and are still special as that.

Tattoos are amazing. Just make sure it has significant meaning to you. Preferably something universal. And find a good artist.
