Aminita Muscaria?? help me not die lol

Habitat: East Texas
Woods, underneath pine trees and surrounding area.

Gills:
whites gills not attached, white spore print.

Stem:
varies

Cap:
varies

Spore print color:
white

Bruising:
didnt notice any

Well it's an Amanita muscaria, but I can't nail the var.

Either
Amanita muscaria var flavivolvata
Amanita muscaria var. amerimuscaria

but I'm not a TI so do not eat them until you get a more definitive answer.

A. muscaria var. flavivolvata is A. amerimuscaria, unless i've got something wrong.

Do you agree with the identification?

I also thought to include Amanita Muscaria var muscaria, but apparently this only grows in Europe. I'm not sure what the American version of A. muscaria var muscaria is.

The variations on the Amanita muscaria species confuse the heck out of me. There's American versions, European versions, multiple names for the same mushrooms, and they seem to shift around.

they confuse you because they are confused in their definitions and arrangement to begin with. they shift around as people try to come up with taxonomies which reflect real trlationships.

when the study of new world mushrooms began, researchers began applying the names of old world species to those here which seemed to fit, not knowing that they where different. as the study deepened and people started noticing differences, they started labling the new material as varieties of the old species, when in fact, in many or most cases they are their own separate species. in some cases, they are actually several different species masquerading under the names for the old world taxa.

as for the identification: those look to have smooth bulbs. i can see some suggestion of basal rings which have dried and shriveled away to almost nothing, or become pressed back against the bulb, but since i'm not well verses in Amanita, i would hesitate to place anything with a smooth basal bulb into section Amanita.

that's probably overcautious, and i don't know what else they would be, but i'm pretty reserved when it comes to this genus.

Can't really tell by your pictures but do the gills and stem have a yellowish tint to them? With the lack of rings at the base you could say they are Amanita parcivolvata.

if they are flys remove the stem before drying. its usually full of maggots.

as they are sun drying now flys are landing on them and being stunned, im just picking em up and killing em.

They are Amanita amerimuscaria.

Also known as Amanita muscaria var. flavivolvata

Amanita muscaria occurs in Europe and in the PNW (where it is yellow).

I'd say you have Amanita muscaria var. persicina.

Read up on them. Its compeltly different than a psilocybe mushroom trip. Many like it, but its suggested for experienced trippers only.

Kind of.  Dry them first and keep the dose low to medium.  (maybe one small to moderate sized mushroom or 7 grams dried)

All Amanita Muscaria contain muscimol which is the main active compounds that cause that delerious effect. They don't make you trip out either so I suggest if you're looking for a trip not to eat these mushrooms. If you do decide to eat them though dry them out for first so most of the Ibotenic Acid can be turned into Muscimol. They vary in levels of Muscimol too so some you'll feel effects from and others you won't feel anything at all.

Best way to describe my experience with them was after I consumed them I felt like how you do if you smoke a Cigarette for the first time in your life, very light headed and sick.
