may they all rest in peace, and we can all do a better job of knowing our neighbors, and ourselves.

Wapakz---- Sorry to take up space on the website, maybe some people realize that a TRAGEDY has accured.  Even though their may be another post on the subject, show so respect to the fallen, let people recognize what has happened!!

12 soldiers die in Afghanistan it gets a 30-second clip on CNN. 12 soldiers die on US soil and people freak out.

I'm not saying we should downplay what this was (tragic), but I am saying there's a seriously fucked-up perception of what deaths people consider "higher priority" with the care they give.

What makes these deaths any more significant than people who die in Afghanistan? Or rice farmers in Cambodia in the 1970s? Or Chernobyl victims? People who die from AIDS, Cancer, heart disease... I don't see how one death can be more prominantly publicised than another when the families and friends of people who die everywhere feel pain for what happens to their lovedones. News networks are exploiting pain for ratings, and people eat it up.

12 civilians probably died in Afghanistan today, I don't see that in the news. It might sound cold, and this was a tragic event, I'm just sick of people in the media giving preferential treatment to some tragedies and completely ignore others.

I'm sure that if we were in afghanistan those deaths would have been
reported to us as afghanistani people, in the mean time, this portion of
the discussion should have been in the other thread, not this one

Well, sure its sad when anyone gets killed, but in this case its just killers killing killers about to go kill a lot of innocent people and other killers in a controlled conflict about stealing opium and oil for some very evil and greedy rich bastards somewhere at the elite centers of world power. Whats the big suprise. Like the other person said, lots of people die in lots of ways. The media is playing this up because it coincides with their goals to divide and conquer the poor and naive people in a class conflict, and inspire more war and confusion to consolidate their wealth and power.

I have very little respect for anyone who sells out to the elite and finds their own and others' lives of so little value as to put them on the line for capitalist wars of aggression. All this they do on the second and third hand word of evil and corrupt government and elites who should never be trusted. All parties involved were naive, corrupt, and/or utterly ignorant, and when you play with such fire you should expect to get burned.

They should try nonviolence and love and stop the barbaric cycles of war and destruction humanity has been going through since time immemorial. And neither the government or media masters really gives two hoots about any of these who they consider as pawns and cannon fodder anyways either. All life is precious and humanity is all one family. Those who kill will be killed thats karma for you. Thats my opinion.
