That's probably true.
However, I live in the ghetto here in Jacksonville too, and I've never had an issue.

i was born and raised in dallas and lived most of my adult life here (11 years before moving overseas). i'll probably move out towards fort worth when i transfer to a university, but we'll see what happens.
the food here is excellent and the people, at least the crowd you'd probably want to be friends with, are super cool. texas is cutting edge when it comes to psychedelics if you fall in the right circles. the night life scene isn't what it used to be, but there's still plenty of it. there always seems to be a good show or party to attend. culturally, we have a good art scene and outdoor stuff isn't terribly out of reach either. there's plenty of convenience and the cost of living is relatively low. lots of beautiful women as well.
but...
the traffic SUCKS. the weather is even worse unless you like suffocating humidity and heat. the crime is what it is. if running your mouth to strangers is a habit that's culturally acceptable in your area, that should best be cured before dealing with the public here. lots of armed citizenry. the cops are best left out of most equations. socio-politically speaking, conservatives run the show. it sucks. there's a lot of smart, cultured people here in spite of that.
hardly the worst place in the world to live, but it's hardly the best. if you got a good group to take you out when you visited op i bet you'd have a lot of fun here.
hope that helps.

To me Texas is like a way less cool California. Better guns laws though.

I'd like to live in california sometime. I hear norcal is gorgeous.
I'm content here in Colorado though but Texas has a lot of good nature, and beautiful sunsets. And the sexiest women I think I'll ever see

I've literally had people try to rob me multiple times in Atlanta, and it's not like I even live there.
i had a gun pulled on me over a fucking oz of shwag in fort worth 2 blocks from my house once. im not bitter over it, i just learned that dealing is a more serious game than i thought and really isn't worth it unless you really do like being a thug.
