Oyster Mushroom ID Help

OK - Newbie here.  Just got into foraging and found what I think is a nice bunch of oyster mushrooms.  May consider eating them if you can help confirm.
Habitat: Western Washington, Growing out of what appears to be dead standing alder.
Gills: White, turning tan on older specimins.
Stem: Not much of one but it is thick.
Cap: Really smooth, white to offwhite top, sizes ranged from a bit bigger than a half dollar, to about 4-6 inches across.
Spore Print: Used black paper and the print is white, it only sat for a few hours.
Scent: Mild scent...not sure what to write here...don't know what they should smell like

The two trees i found might have hundreds of these on them.  Some old and way past their prime and others just starting to grow. One tree had them all the way up to 30-40 feet in the air.

If they are oysters I may be able to harvest quite a few in the next couple of weeks assuming it doesn't freeze as there were many small ones. 

Any help is appreciated in ID.  I did upload and share the photos...not sure how to make it so they can be seen....can you help there too?

Attn PWN hunters: If you should come across a bluing Psilocybe matching P. pellicolusa please smell it.
If you detect a scent reminiscent of Anethole (anise) please preserve a specimen or two for study and please PM me.
