LC vs Spore Innoc in Grainbag
    #11346244 -

It seems most people prefer making LC when innocing large amounts of spawn.

What do you think would colonize fastest?:

1. 2-3ML of spores into 1/3 filled large spawnbag of WBS
2. 2-3ML of spores into LC, and then LC into WBS spawnbag

???

I'm thinking there might be a time issue with the spores. But, if the grains are truly sterile why should it matter?

?

It would make no diffrence to your grow  at all...

If however you made an LC, waited a week for the spores to germinate and then injected the LC into your bags you would have much faster colonization rates.

The reason we use LC's is it turns a small ammount of spore solution into a helluva lot of live mycelium solution = no germination times when injected into your substrate

I didn't clarify.

I am talking about the time that I first inject spores to the time of complete grain colonization. I know LC colonizes grain faster than spores, but you have to take into account the time it takes to make the LC before you can use it.

I am not concerned with making tons of LC if I can make a few large spawnbags with a 10ml spore syringe. That spawn can go a long way.

Ah, I see.

Just inject straight into your bags if your wanting to get  them done as soon as possible.

Save a little bit in your syringe and make a couple of LC's for your next  batch.

Cool, that's what I was thinking.

Any differing opinions?

Anyone else?

determined by luck.

It can take 3 days if you have a magnetic stirer to complete an LC.
But, once you inject that LC its going to take probably about another 3 days to show signs of growth.
**note LCs can take longer than 3 days though**
= 6 days

Or you can inject spores directly into the bag, my 4lb wbs bag showed signs of growth within 3 days, but YMMV. I've seen jars take up to a week to show signs of colonization.

WIth that being said, my opinion is that making an LC and then injecting the LC into the bag is the best way to go about doing this as you can (I would) shake the bag to distribute the LC whereas spores you generally want to leave it unshaken so that the spores can compatible spores.

**if your grain bag is bricked up from being packaged or being in the pressure cooker, make sure you loosen it up by giving it a massage before you inoculate.

also, please make sure your LC is clean if you decide to go through that method, I'd hate to see you lose some nice grainbags due to a crappy LC.

This is all fake.
