Resignation letter, can I retract it?

if i put up a notice for resignation a month ahead of time, but am having trouble finding another job better suited for me, can i retract it? hopefully they'll reconsider as i'm an assistant manager and my work ethic will be crucial to my bosses, especially with the holiday crowds coming up.

Only one way to find out- ask the boss. Ask for a raise to start, then just settle for getting the old job back.

Have you asked anyone yet? Maybe they haven't begun to look for a replacement for you yet. It may be in their best interest to keep you rather than go through all of the trouble of getting someone new - only thing is that now they know that you are planning to quit, they probably figure they will have to do that anyway.
