Color
    #11319569 - 10/25/09 06:36 PM (8 years, 1 month ago)

Try to imagine a color that you've never seen before.
Not just a shade of the color blue or a lighter red or a mix of green and purple
I'm talking about a color that isn't based on any color you know.

What if everyone sees specific colors in their own unique way. Maybe the color blue looks one way to me but completely different to someone else, yet they are still calling it blue because that's what they know blue as. Our perceptions of the same color could be completely different. There is no way to really explain to someone what blue looks like to me and no way to differentiate between my blue and someone else's blue...

or maybe i'm just stoned :stoned:

I haven't insulted someone I don't know for the sheer sake of instigating an argument since I was in the second grade

"A question that sometimes drives me hazy: am I or are the others crazy?"
-Albert Einstein

the only perception that matters is that of your own experience, right?
all others' experiences are trivial or even just a figment of your own imagination.

maybe the only person that exists is you, as an encompassing consciousness
that only experiences the rest of the universe (and colors) as a means of explaining the questions of your own being.
but you and I are the same consciousness of the same individual being experiencing itself as all of existence.

therefore you have questioned and answered yourself. the colors are all the same, but experienced different.

lol.

woah dude

so if we're all just apart of one conciousness experiencing itself, and i was able to obtain total selflessness and unite myself with this one great conciousness...would i be able to do things like read your mind, or see the colors you see

the human  mind loses it's ability to question the world around it the older it gets.

i guess your comment just goes to show the general ignorance that slows the advancement of human philosophy and wisdom

when people say think outside the box...

your box gets smaller the older you get.

have you ever learned an entire language and means of movement
after being around it for only a few months.
children younger than 1 do it every day

some religions call it nirvana or just enlightenment. when you "transcend" the consciousness that is your own and realize the "oneness" with the entire knowledge of the universe.

the experience loses the point of view of you or me, but becomes ALL.
you see everything as it is forever before and ever since, as was experienced by everyone. "heaven", "nirvana" transfer of your minds energy into the rest of the universal energy and matter.

I am not even high, just weird. lol

there are a huge variety of spectrums of light that are above or below the "visible spectrum.

how would the human mind perceive the spectrum of x-ray or gamma etc.
if we had some "eye" that was evolved to receive these different frequencies. would it be a different "color" or something completely different and unfathomable to our current experience of the external world

High doses of Mushrooms and DXM both have shown me colors I've never seen before... don't know how to explain them either

It's like trying to explain what a color looks like to a blind man.

You just can't

dkamp18 hit the nail on the head.. it's because our brain is capable of processing and showing different colors but our eyes can't see the entire light spectrum

ever seen the newer version of elephant man? that ugly mofo explains colors to his blind bitch by letting her touch rocks by assorted heats. cold for blue, orange=warm red=hot and so on.

blind people do dream.

how would you describe their experience, as a more emotional point of view?

I have heard blind people try to describe their idea of "colors" that they have seen in visions of day dreams, hallucinations or regular dreams.

could this be related to our own view of sight and color, or a completely separate plane of incidence?

what about an extraterrestrial being that is so vastly different from humans that they appear invisible to us because they are not in our light spectrum.

And they obtain energy from rocks instead of fruits and vegetables and meat....

And their blood is a gas instead of a liquid.

that's a typical argument, if we found intelligent life...

would we recognize it?

maybe their are entire "celestial bodies" seen as planets or stars that have somehow evolved a sentient consciousness with its external world

I've always hated the arguement that beings can't live without water. Carbon-based lifeforms can't, but silicon-based lifeforms can.

Don't really know where this is coming from. Just kind of popped in my head I suppose.
