Do you believe in ghosts?

Recently I've been watching a lot of halloween specials on the Travel Channel and such. I'm a naturally inquisitive person and a rational thinker (at least I like to think so). My use of psychedelics has only pushed me to question more and investigate the human mind and perception.
The people on these Halloween specials always talk about how they feel "ghosts" push them or brush against them or make noises such as laughter or screaming.
All I think about when I see this stuff is "the mind is a powerful thing"...
Opinions?

I think belief in ghosts follows the same pattern as all other things that are left unexplained.
Death is probably the spur of the most ridiculous beliefs, (religion, ghosts etc.)
Unknown + Humanity = Irrationality (until Unknown = Known)

when i was a kid and at night at the same time as every other night. a blue outline of a man with red glowing eyes would walk to my open door just standing there naked (yes, balls and everything) and looking at me. this happens every night i was in bed.
maybe it's not a "ghost" but it was sure something.
i swear on my life i am not lying.

Until I undeniably feel or see something I absolutely cannot explain, I'll refrain from using "magic" and "ghost" in my vocabulary.

Oh, I believe you. I just wonder about the validity of your sight in the situation.
"Seeing" something is not proof of existence, because sight is an interpretation of receptors in the brain and the image you see can be mistaken for reality.
I just don't like to take things at face value, even if whatever you see/feel/hear/ seems real

I am a skeptic.
But, I am of the opinion that "ghosts" are SOME kind of actual phenomena.... EVPs, the video, Mediums getting acurate answers, ouiji boards.......... There is enough "evidence" to suggest that SOMETHING is going on..... but not enough to CONVINCE me that it is dead people.
I have seen those wierd shows, and know some people who say they have seen ghosts, and my questioning doesnt waver their adamancy on the subject........ So, I believe they believe what they saw.
Demons...... thats the one that always gets me, Either..... it is in your head....... or its in your head. You wouldnt know if it was a demon or not.
Ghosts.... meh, get a voice recorder and run some EVPs.
I would say we could write it all off to the fear of the unkown and tricks of the mind..... But, by doing that, I think we miss out on some of the available possibilities of research into those fringe fields. And.... I dont like that idea at all.

I pretty much agree with everything said above me, I have no reason to believe in ghosts as I have never seen anything to lead me to believe they exist.
But I wont say for sure that they dont exist because I cant prove that either..
and OP I do agree with you when you say the mind is a powerful thing.
-------------------- The world is so exquisite with so much love and moral depth, that there is no reason to deceive ourselves with pretty stories for which there's little good evidence. Far better it seems to me, in our vulnerability, is to look death in the eye and to be grateful every day for the brief but magnificent opportunity that life provides.

-Your mind tricks you once into "seeing" this being -You glance at the clock after seeing it -You return the next night to the same place -Your brain recognizes the situation and reproduces sensory reactions you previously experienced (but makes you think its real every time)
Also, you say it was the only time you saw it, but it happened every night. How does that work?

I feel the same way in regards to religion as well.
Honestly, I would love to live in a world of ghosts, vampires, zombies, etc. but my experiences so far have not led me to believe in any of those.
I think it's irrational to believe 100% that they exist, while it is equally irrational to believe 100% that they do not.

I was thinking about throwing religion in with that statement as well, as I share the same viewpoint on it as with ghosts and other unexplainable occurences

when i said the only time i saw such a such a thing i meant that i have never seen it else were. i guess i mis said it. it could be why i seen it more than once but it doesn't explain why i have seen it the first time. it's not like i was thinking about blue naked man with red eyes did i?

That's where your subconscious comes in. Sure, it wasn't in the front of your brain but everyone has frights buried in their subconscious just waiting for the right moment to jump out and scare the shit out of them.
