A shotgun with some medium to small casings of Atl #7 should provide fruits.

Without the shotgun it can be very hard to give them enough air and moisture indoors.

I just had the same problem with some of my Mexicana A jars. I popped three open that were three months old but no stones ata all in any of them. I'm going to wait a few more months before opening the rest and hopefully try some ALT#7 in the meantime

If you can work with agar ...

Take the largest stone and attempt to save that specific strain.

Cut the stone open and place a sample (from the inside of the stone) to agar.

Grow it out.

In the future you no longer have to do a MS crap shoot - but now just grow the strain that you already know - produces nice stones.

I recently got ATL 7 and went directly to agar - 5 plates.  After 30 days, 3 plates each produced a 3/8 stone.  I took cultures from the stones and used those to go to slants and rye grass seed jars - mine are still growing.

By the way - watch buying rye grain anywhere but at a feed shop. 

rye grain sold to farmers have a fungicide applied to them - not good to grow mushrooms.

rye grain destined for animal feed does NOT - costs less and is GREAT for mushrooms.  I paid $8.50 for 40lb bags.

I emailed sporeworks and told them that my Mex-a did not produce any stones they said they would send me out a new strain. FYI if any one else ordered it.

I am going to try and case the remaining dud Mex A jars I have. I'll post the results...or lack thereof

Yeah, that's great. I have at least one quart that looks like it's full of healthy white something. I'd think cubes would start to pin in-vitro or just go downhill at three months.

these finished and i reaped several grams of sclerotia and then went on to inoculate some substate and grow out the rest and fruited some poor fruits. talked to Workman about that problem. he helped me.

I believe Silly's problem was with your discussion of stone production, as far as Sporeworks is concerned, these spores are EXCLUSIVELY for microscopy research. He may have been a bit harsh, but this is clearly stated on the Sporeworks site.

I have a bunch of stoneless Mex A jars that I could try fruiting.  How were you gonna do it?  I was thinking a minimono (thanks doc!) with coir/coffee.  Kinda lazy and didn't want to deal with verm and casing.  Think that would work?

Good question. I know they need LOTS of FAE. The challenge is combining that with humidity.
