Just make sure to take the foil off the tops of your jars while they colonize.

And it looks like you are using Rye Grass Seed, not Rye Grain. Rye grain is people food, rye grass seed is lawn seed. They both work great for Sclerotia producers. I just wanted to clarify.

an hour soak and no simmer? doesnt sound like those grains would contain much water.

Good luck with your grow, ive not really seen many grow mexicana a.

I plan on giving it a shot sometime soon aswell

6 days into grow and mex on rye grass seed is doing the best about 30% covered.  Alt 7 and the rye berries are going a bit slower i think it might be due to lower water content.  The grass seed seams to be wetter.

He dumped 160 degree water on the grains and let them sit for an hour.  That is just like simmering.

13 days in and jars are 90-100% colonized.  there were 6 jars that did not have any growth yet so i am throwing them out. 


I dont want any more of these jars so i am not going to do a G2G transfer.  But i do want to be able to do more later.  When i harvest them can i just take out some of the grain and put it into LC?

It has been three weeks since i knocked up my jars and i am having some issues.  The alt 7 jars i did look great and have TONS of stones started in it.  They are yellow like mustard colored


The mex however have water standing in the bottom of the jar. I flipped them and i hope that it will drain out through the polly fill.  Hope that will work.

There is also no sign of stones.

Be patient, stone formation usually takes off after full colonization, and the bottom of some jars can take forever and a day to colonize.

6 weeks in and i had to check one of each jar.

Mex-a was nice and moist but there was nothing in it.

The alt-7 was had 38g wet. will post dry soon

ya i was under the imoression you would need atleast a good 3 months before you should have seen full growth:shrug:

The alt 7 you can see stones all over the sides of the jars. but the mex a cant see anything on the out side.  I heard the stone grew on the insde with the mex but i had nothing.  i will look again at week 10.

Atl 7 does seem a bit faster than Mex A... but there is no reason to keep opening jars until you see some growth. Yes, Mex stones grow inside the substrate more often than Atl... but they still make themselves known.

If you open another jar of Mex before you see stones, you may want to case it.  You could still get fruits and prints.

Damn this thread has me excited about my upcoming Atl 7 grow. Stones ahoy!

BTW, Cervantes, is it reasonable for a novice to expect that they'll be successful in casing/fruiting Atl 7?
My impression has been that cubes are much easier to fruit.

I don't think it is reasonable for a novice to expect success from any type of grow. Mistakes happen, you learn from them. Success is only part of this hobby.
