i recently just sold a CDJ-1000MK3 digital turntable to somebody in Australia as NEW. it was a kid using his mom's credit card and what not, and i had several eBay messages with him about the item. i had told him that i USED it once to verify it's in perfect working condition, and that i would also have to ship it in a different packaging as to avoid certain costs when he receives the item (clerk at the post office told me shipping it in a diff. box and as USED would lower the cost for the receiver when getting it for some reason?). i made sure there were no scratches or anything before i listed it on eBay.

now the kid's mom has filed a claim dispute on paypal stating the item was not as described and that i said i was going to send it in the original packaging (which i discussed i wasn't) and that it had scratches all over it! she says it's clearly been used and that something rolls around when you shake it (WTF?! why would you shake it, of course something sounds like that)... no my paypal balance is -531$ and to resolve it i have to refund the bitch, make a different refund offer, or not refund it and go w/ another option (paypal didn't describe what the option was though). i don't have any money in my bank account so it would be a major overdraft if i refund it.

WHAT THE HELL SHOULD I DO?! should i just deny the refund? what would happen? i mean i sold it as NEW, but had opened the box, but never really USED it at all.

I have no idea why you would list something as 'new' even if you only used it once. You should have listed it as 'used' and described it as 'like new' in the description.

Here's what you should do: Do not refund the money, and counter-dispute the claim. Show e-Bay the e-mail you sent saying it is USED.

there is no claim filed yet, just a dispute... she can file a claim if the dispute is not resolved...

but basically this is the message that would save me or not...

"sent it today. i saved you around 40$ or so the girl said, she changed it from item description NEW to USED and told me it would've been a lot more if i had kept it as NEW on the shipping form. but don't worry it is NEW and has not been used, only turned on to verify it works as someone bought it off ebay from a vendor for me. it was also 5$ cheaper for the shipping because their computers were down, so you can just send 30$ to unsui@hush.com instead of 40$ since i lagged on you. tracking # = EH361621973US"

Just read all of the posts on page 2; great advice: call paypal, be honest and descriptive, and everything should work out.

A lot of people here like to say general statements like 'YOU'RE FUCKED!' but whenever I have had a dispute on ebay/paypal/bank of america - I'd call them up and we were able to settle the situation.

no offense, but this message is VERY confusing, and it might not kill you to use some capitalization and give off a professional image, instead of some stoner kid selling his shit on ebay.

So how much did you make on it?

Like, I assume someone bought it for way cheap, you paid them, and then you resold at a marked up price.

So what was your profit margin?

Use this equation and give it to us straight:

[(Price you sold for - Price you bought for) / (Price you sold for) ] x 100

well i figured it's ebay and i'm not a company selling it, so why the fuck would i have to be professional? i always type with lower-case letters unless i'm writing an essay (just my preference). i agree, the message is confusing as it was very vague. but we discussed that i had received 3 CDJs as a gift (the person buying the gift bought them off ebay) and only needed 2, so i had an extra to get rid of (which was even on the item description). and he didn't ask to discuss any further details, so i didn't...

i guess i will give paypal a call...

See if the buyer will agree to shipping your item back, making sure to use insurance and delivery confirmation. Once the item is received, you will refund the money.
Request this through the ebay/paypal dispute process, and do not reply to any emails from your email client. Do it through your ebay/paypal acct.

sounds like good advice also, but the buyer would be pissed to pay shipping fees.

I recently got screwed out of about 200 dollars through ebay - they trust the buyer's word over the seller's so much it's fucking ridiculous. I didn't fight it though, I let the little fucker be on his way and karma will take care of him.
