bulk colonization @ 2 weeks

ok these are 6quart tray. 

Spawned 2 quarts of MS colonized rye berries to each tray. I layered the mix (bulk, spawn, bulk, spawn, bulk).  since I still have about 1/2" of space in the container, I am assuming that this mix is greater than a 1:2 ratio of spawn to bulk. hopefully enough nutrients for a few flushes.

the bulk substrate was:
80% coir, 10% gypsum, 10% dehydrated manure from mycosupply.



two weeks into colonization.

going a little slower than I hoped, but it least it seems to be progressing.  I will be fruiting in a shotgun terrarium when ready.

I am hoping to get some fruit before Holloween.  :shrug

Although i may advise others in a general way regarding all types of mushroom grows, and may even post question from other forums about growing "active" mushrooms, i only grow non-"active" mushrooms and edibles.

its about 67-72 degrees in the room.  I am thinking of stuffing a blanket in or around the container I have all of my different trays colonizing in. I just made 6 other trays today.

I also noticed a couple very small puddles of water on top of the substrate in a couple spots

also, the first week I probably opened them too much, twice a day :shrug: OCD ...

I put the trays in a plastic bag on sunday night, haven't checked them in two days, and had the best growth.

mycelium grows best when you don't watch it.  :strokebeard:

I'm not going to check them again until Sunday.
