This thread is pretty long and I'm not interested enough to read through everyone's responses.

If I were you, I'd take a peek at craigslist in your area. Find a good bike that you can try. I wouldn't get a long board...can't ride it up that mile hill of yours.

Your bike will also benefit if you were to care for it properly by
a) not throwing it down a fucking hill
b) oiling the chain

Get some heavy duty grease and gum the chain up. Ride it around for a while but keep in mind that excess grease can come flying off--so don't wear your sunday best. :wink:

The grease will prevent the chain from rusting up, fucking up your gears, making you furious, throwing your bike, and pissing me off for reading some shitty thread about what you need and not about sex with stepmoms.

I can fly up hills on a longboard. Just gotta get in to rhythm. Unless it's a steep fucking hill which then it's probably faster to walk rather than bike/longboard.

i can go up pretty steep hills pushin my board up as well just gotta learn a smooth trade/alternating between pushing feet

Fixing an already cheap/shitty bike can be done for way less than 200 bucks.Or go to a place like wal-mart or something and get a brand new low end bike for under 200$

I dunno what condition the bike was in when you started riding it so I cannot bitch about you maintaining it.

For future reference though,if you dont know how or are to lazy to maintain a bike,you should not be riding one.

Same goes with cars.If a person doesnt know how to change oil or is to lazy to take it somewhere to have it changed,they should not be driving a car.

Dont throw your fucking bike down a hill then bitch about how the thing is a piece of crap.Chains fall off of most bikes pretty often,its the name of the game.Just start it back on the sprocket and push the bike or spin the wheel till the chain is completely on.

Fixing up and maintaining bicycles is not rocket science,nor should it be expensive.Unless you buy an expensive,specialty bike.

Sorry for preaching,but I cannot help it when the ignorance is so thick I need waders to walk through it.

regardless of going up hills with longboards you're fucked on the days that it's raining. rusted bearings are 1000x worse than a rusted chain.
since it's for reliable transportation i'd say put the money in to fixing up your current bike, or looking on craigslist for a decent inexpensive used bike.
but if you were just looking for something to cruise around on it'd be longboard all the way. and bombing hills on a longboard totally makes up for the walk back up.

My advice:

1. Get a new chain.
2. Regularly GREASE YOUR CHAIN so it won't rust in future.
3. Have sex with your stepmom.
4. Take pics.

And stop throwing your bike down the hill :crankey:

that's true rain does eff the bearings. i put spinners on my wheels though (basically washers) i ride in rain quite often no rusty bearings at all. should have no problem gettin a rig of any sort for 200 tho
