I disagee completely, I spent maybe 30+ years on the "spiritual" path and in the end I left it and choose something that worked much better for me.

I'm a nihilist/hedonist. Fuck maybe that's spiritual:lol:

If spirit is all encompassing, how could it not be?

Spiritual righteousness is utter BS because EVERYTHING is spiritual
everything is the Self
from the Buddha under the tree, to the guy mugging old ladies

Only difference is the Buddha sees it, the guy mugging does not

Who claims that?  I see people bitching about that quite often here on the forums but have never in my life seen anybody claim that.  I have interacted with dozens of practicing scientists - none of them ever claimed anything close to that.  I think thats a made up claim that mystics use to equivocate.

Poor choice of words on my part. What I meant to say is that certain skeptics claim scientific reasons to mystical experiences. "Delusions" or "Hallucinations" are powerful words. I don't think the rational ego mind will ever be able to wrap itself around certain experiences.

When spirituality really takes your life, theres no turning back to doubts,

I totally agree with this. Once you discover certain things it is really hard to ignore them and go back to ordinary things.

That's a great way to put it. Like I said before, we are all finding our own way up the mountain.

Indeed is wasn't your quote, it was icelandics. Maybe you should put the old specs back on

Second time today. Actually my eyes are getting bad finally at 56 and I need reading glasses which I don't have with me right now.

I meditated for years. Read all the "spiritual" books I could access and did tons of psychedelics.

Like when you are at the dentist and the drill hits a nerve?

Or like when you come home early and find your girlfriend fucking your best friend?

Or being tortured in a concentration camp. Or starving to death before you are two.

Yes life certainly is all wonderful. Especially to those who have really never known struggle or pain or are young and full of folly.

Fuck off

Well, that's a pretty reasonable reaction.

If you enjoy the challenge

Some simply want to see through the ideas of challenge & mountains & paths...

Of what use is the path if it does not lead to a final destination?

Perhaps we enjoy putting it off & facing imaginary challenegs...

Besides, being enlightened to the fast track might just inspire one to get all superhuman and knock 'the one' from his peak seat.
Gimme that stick.

Life is about the journey not the destination. If you wanted to be born enlightened why be born at all.

Spot on for who?

I made it clear I didn't mean life was all giggles and joy-joy. I've had a rough upbringing, but I don't let that tinge my world-view.

But of course the older one is, the more miserable one's justified to be, I guess. Holocaust references all around!

I hope I'm not bitter in my old age

 Ironically since being less preoccupied by spirituality and meaning, I have been a lot happier. Ever since I stopped *trying* to meditate, and just be, it has been a lot quieter.

Today I shall be going to a place where I exchange time and tasks for currency, then I shall be meeting my girlfriend, and then my Roller derby team to talk about skate maintenance. Yep exciting day, I am pretty stoked about it actually.

What I am NOT going to do is comtemplate the meaning of life...after years of doing just that, I am ok with it.

I would rather work my way through, some pointers don't hurt. I think that learning to dig yourself out of a hole can give you the ability to help others out of the same hole. I believe that we are all doing what we are supposed to be doing. I don't think teleporting to the destination is my path.
