Help me to overcome a delusional paranoid fear I have
    #11186517 -

I don't really know where to start with all of this and this might end up being a lifelong story. Lately I feel like I have made great progress as far as my spiritual life is concerned. I have had alot of wonderful experiences and I feel as if I am getting deeper and deeper into my meditations and I feel as if my senses have been enhanced all six of them.

My mind is very silent now and I find myself "in the moment" so to say alot as of late. All kinds of weird synchronicities have been happening lately.

I have made great progress as far as kundalini. I feel my chakras opening up and have seen the changes in my life taking place. Anyways to sum it all up I feel like I am making progress.

However during the process of kundalini I feel alot of my fears are surfacing so I can deal with them and overcome them. One of my greatest and most irrational fears is that I am dabbling in something that I shouldn't be. And that my fascination with the occult is unhealthy.

This has also caused alot of paranoia in my cannabis sessions. Before I smoke I usually take some time to prepare myself. I usually do some yoga and meditation before smoking weed and make sure my mind is empty before I smoke. Then after taking a couple hits I resume meditation and let my breathe put my mind to sleep.

All those people who have said that weed and mediation are not meant to be mixed have absolutely no idea what they are talking about. If you don't believe me try this http://www.eoni.com/~visionquest/library/SOTH.html
and see for yourself.

Anyways after getting deep into my weed enhanced mediation experience I sometimes get very close to arousing the sleeping serpent. I feel tremendous surges of energy inside and I feel the spirals around my chakras taking place. Around this time I usually get really paranoid that the path I have been following this whole time has all been a very well elaborated lie. Not a lie as in a kundalini awakening experience isn't real or anything like that because all of my experiences have left me with no doubt that something big is going to happen and this is all very real.

What I mean is I am having paranoid delusional fears that the source of all the insights and mystical experiences I have been having is all just the hissing in my ear from that same old cunning slippery serpent in the bible. A crazy and naive thought I know. But it has been tormenting me lately.

How do I know that the source that all of this is coming from is actually good?

What if the "forbidden" fruit in the garden of eden actually was the mushroom and we are all just being deceived by the same old serpent? Again I know this is all just crazy talk but it's really starting to bug me lately. I can make so many connections and go on and on about this but I know it all just sounds very paranoid.

Kundalini being refered to as the sleeping serpent is really wigging me out.

Not to mention reading things like this. http://www.christian-mommies.com/special-features/bible-studies/the-great-subtle-lie-of-contemplative-spirituality/

Another thing that is bothering me is all of these entities we encounter in our trips. In the bible it says that demons can be very deceiving and appear as angels. And alot of people say the entities they come in contact with in very high dosed trips are very tricky and have a twisted sense of humour. Need I say more?
Anyways I could go on and on about all the paranoid connections I have been making but I've already gone on long enough.

I realize that the process of kundalini awakening can bring alot of fears to surface and this is one of my biggest fears. I need help to overcome it. I have recently had a chain of events happen that have allowed me for the opportunity to have a mushroom trip that I have been waiting so long for.

I met a guy at work who said he could get me some shrooms for free and this same week my parents said we are going on vacation for 4 days for my cousins wedding. I asked off work for those days but my boss could only give me two days off. So I have two days without parents to disturb me as I trip balls and use the next day to recover. It seems as if all of this fell into place for a reason. But I'm afraid that I will fall into these fears I talked about and end up having a very very bad trip and not the kind of bad trip that you learn from.

So I figure I need to work this out before I trip. Lol or maybe my paranoid delusions are right and I shouldn't trip because it comes from satan lol.

Can anyone relate to my fears? Overhearing my fundamentalist christian parents crying to God about how their son is falling away doesn't really help me either.

I know I know.

Now that I am familiar with how my mind works I understand how it makes connections and tries to put the peices together and how delusional it can become.

When trying to overcome fear is it best to just ignore it? should I try and play it out rationally in my mind and realize it is just a delusion? Or should I just relax and follow my breath? Does paying attention to fears feed them and make them stronger? Or does ignoring them and pretending they are not their just make them worse?

Well first of, you can intelligently see both sides of it, so theres not much you have to 'do' really...

Does ignoring the fear remove the fear?
Or does ignoring it just supress it further?

Does paying attention to the fear just feed it more?
Or does paying attention to the fear root it out?

It can possibly be all of the above... so id say, first of all establish what the fear is about? Something real or imaginary?

Isit just an imagined sensation appearing, then more imagination jumps into bed with it & calls it 'fear' then you hit the panic button & try to get rid of it, which amplifies the whole situation further.... often its like this, way blown out of proportion.

You see, if you make a big deal about it you are already giving it a reality it doesn't even have without your participation, so first of all, don't participate, then approach it gently... what is the fear about?.. something actually there to be fearful about?

When you see it is just the mind & not about any actual danger then you can competely see through it, you dont have to ignore, reject or probe further into it, looking like this you can even welcome it, say 'Bring It On!' and just observe...

All you ever need is your own Awareness

So really, its to pay attention to it to the extent you need to see through it, then you naturally ignore it...

Thank you that makes alot of sense. I think I really knew that I just needed to hear someone else say it. This has been a big stumbling block for me lately.

Thats always the way when we're dealing with Self knowledge (meditation)

We already know all of existence as we are existence, we have just forgotten ourselves through knowing so many things that are irrelevant to our existence

I was also wondering if you were familiar with carl jung and the shadow.

How does one go about doing shadow work? Or does it just surface naturally in meditation?

As far as being paranoid when you smoke, meditating and doing yoga before hand probably just psyche you out a little bit and make it seem like a big deal.  Smoking isn't supposed to be any big thing at all, so you should treat it that way.

Also, I've heard that Kundalini and Tantra yoga are best practiced with instruction, i.e. you're sort of playing with fire.

im not really into learning about psychology
im not tryna cut a deal with the mind for freedom

theres not alot we need to do to be perfectly happy & go beyond the mental BS
simply stop buying into it, shadows & all...

i know that everything surfaces naturally in meditation

Who says that smoking isn't supposed to be a big thing at all? It is to me and I've happened to reach states that I previously thought were impossible when used with respect and preperation.

Put the doritos down and try it out yourself.

I will agree with the last part you said though. If you play with the snake you will get bitten. But I am at a loss of where to find a guru/master/shaman.

Well, I was under the assumption that you were smoking weed because it's enjoyable.  Maybe you should try eating some Doritos next time you get high.  They taste better!

i certainly agree that weed & meditation can be incredible

but still maintain that meditating while totally sober is unsurpassable

the natural state is what is sought after
natural state being the key word, not induced state

I usually practice sober meditation for an hour each day. Half an hour in the morning and half an hour at night. I also do about a half hour of yoga.

I only smoke once a week usually every sunday and I use it to go deeper into my meditations and to understand how cannabis affects my mind.

How did I give you that impression? I will admit I like the effects of weed but that is not the sole reason why I smoke it.

Most people who smoke weed or do drugs in general for enjoyment aren't really into meditation because that's when it holds up the ugly mirror and they see the things they don't want to see.

Don't get me wrong though I have had my fair share of using weed for recreation as a stoner but it got me no where and I ended up in a deep depression.

I still love weed and find it enjoyable but the joy I derive from it comes from the insights I have from it and the progress I've made.

I'm also into meditation and I do it alot. The key when you get stuck is to investigate paradoxes. Do the opposite of what your mind tells you, and you get unstuck.. tada.. I call it flipping the coin.... To be able to meditate totally sober, you need to stop eating for a few days as food has a huge effect on your body and mind, even a bigger effect than weed in my experience.

Also, you need to understand the concept of duality if you want to get into meditation. Meditate on how there is no good without evil. God  created the devil, so the devil must be necessairy in the plans of God. Many mental problems, if not all mental problems, are solved this way.

Ya I used to smoke everyday as I have already said previously. Then I took about a 4 month break to sober up and that's when I started meditating. Then I started using weed instead of abusing it and I have made great progress with it so far. It has made my sober meditations much deeper and quieter.

Yes I have been practicing fasting as well. Mostly doing fruit detoxing. Sometimes I slip though and eat a shit load of oreos.

As far as duality goes I am well aware of the cosmic balance. Without hate their is no love without evil their is no good without - their is no + ect.

The big bang was the illusion of seperation that will eventually fade away as the universe wakes up and stops dreaming and then we have the big crunch which in turn comes full circle and the cycle repeats forever.  Or so I think. It's all one. NonDuality

I think chronic gave you some good advice...
but i think it wont work for you

you need to actually know what hes talking about.. understand it.. not memorize it and store in your brain as something that might or might not be true and useful for you..

but.. there really is no way to do that..
chronics advice only reaches you properly when you've already realized it yourself.

am i wrong ?

anyhow.. i think... that we have a tendency to get bored with things..
whether they give us pleasure or pain...
you will get bored with it..
the whole reptile serpent bullshit story will eventually bore your mind so much and you wont even be able to get scared of it ..

The snake is simply a symbol.. a metaphor..
its not really a snake.. even though you might see one if you expect to see it , and if you've been used to connecting this symbol with a process of chakra alignment.

To my understanding.. how this actually works  , is that all the chakras come together and create one big nested set of spheres...
this usually results in an out of body experience..

that is what i think DMT can do for you..
it collapses all the chakras into one..your body gets really stiff.. starts rapidly shaking /vibrating .. and your out

i guess what im trying to say is that it works a lot better for me to deal with all this stuff if i approach it without the mystical or religious attachments..
there really is a nice scientific explanation behind it , which i am more comfortable with , than having to think about snakes and kundalini , the devil and all that bullshit..

our bodies are like a technology..
they are like vehicles..
even the subtle ones that we use during projection..

it can all be energetically explained.. and if it was.. you would be no more scared of these processes than you are scared exiting your car.
You know how to unlock the door.. you know how to open it..
you have eyes to see outside of the vehicle..
and intelligence to asses the right moment for exiting so as not to get hit by another car.

This whole thing is being made up to be so god damn important and spiritual and what not..
its fucking normal..
its something we shouldve known all about since childhood..
and all these stories out there... complicate it so much that you spend months if not years preparing yourself for this 'magical' kundalini rising ...

much of the information out there is greatly distorted IMO
fuck the bible.. dont even try to get into that unless you want to learn how trickery is done..
i sincerely give a standing ovation to the side which has been called 'evil' and manipulative..
its an art almost..
it is an art..
its magic..

the only magic you will experience in pursuing these things through books and meditation and weed...
is the paranoid delusional fears you will have - caused by the 'hissings' in your ear that you dont even notice

IMO marijuana is good for one thing only when used for 'spiritual' purposes as you say - projection.

"There are substances ingested which do not aid the individual in the service it has chosen, this being that which you would call the marijuana. This is due to the distortion towards chemical lapses within the mind complex causing lack of synaptic continuity."

i've been down the road you seem to be on now..
and ended up giving it all up..

just do what you feel is right ya know..
remember yourself when the last thing on your mind was being scared of such ridiculous things..

all these books out there , while possibly having some good information , will give you so much crud that you "have to deal with and overcome ! " .. that it simply isnt worth it.

I personally havent meditated.. or done any psychedelic or smoked weed in a long time  for any other purpose than to be retarded and laugh my ass of with people i like being around.
My main focus has been the people around me...
Searching for those moments of joy we can share .. and simply feeling good about life while learning that which interests me.
I feel no responsibility anymore whatsoever.. no pressure..
no goal to reach , or state of existing to attain..
and believe it or not..
the truth simply came out of the closet and started showing itself to me all the time..

just relax bro...
i really dont have a good way to explain what im trying to explain , but i feel as if i know exactly what your going through and it reminds of myself when i was dabbling with ayahuasca..
tweaking out that reptilians will fuck with me...
that spirits will enter my body and make me kill my family ..
all this nonsense ...

then i stopped..
and believe it or not i actually had an out of body experience where a spirit attempted to enter my body..
and this experience just came about randomly..
no substances ingested..
no intent whatsoever to experience it..
there was actually a bunch of 'ghosts' in the area..

one of them glided towards me with his mouth open resembling those monsters you see in scary movies and such..
I SMILED  and waved my index finger left and right..
just plain and simple.. No.
it was like i was in charge of everything..
simply thinking that he cannot enter my body with such confidence.. made him disappear..
You ARE in charge of everything !

Anxiety brings about these paranoid thoughts.
Expectations bring about anxiety.
Desire brings about expectations.

.. dont you see how funny the whole thing is ?
your desires make it all happen..
they get you stuck in a loop.
they bring about the fears that your "supposed to deal with"
and the fear.. is always of your expectations not being met.

it really is always a joke on you as long as you're TRYING.

so.. to get back to chronic

YES

it really does need to be effortless ..

but its an effortless effort ..
a fucking paradox !

oh man..
im done..
i hope at least some of this made sense to you

:peace:

I smoke weed like 3-4 times a week (I would smoke more but I'm low on cash ).  But anyways, I actually enjoy weed a million times more now that I meditate.  I've had so many freaky paranoid experiences when high that after a while I conditioned myself to always go into that mindset when high.  But now that I meditate I can center myself almost at will and enjoy my high and just be in the moment.  I am very serious about meditation, but I'm not going to abandon recreational drug use.  As far as I can tell, that would just be my ego controlling me in a subtler way, telling me "Look how much better than the average stoner you are!  You don't need weed anymore, you have...meditation." Haha, seriously though, in my opinion it's best just to maintain a healthy meditation practice and let desires fall away naturally.

I hope that made sense I kinda went off on a tangent
