An Indian doctor and writer; Deepak Chopra wrote about a woman, which came to him with a yellowish skin, and complained about stomach pain. ... He ordered an operation, based on the diagnose 'gallstone', but when they had opened the stomach, the surgeon saw cancer had attacked the stomach and liver, and that there was nothing much to do, but to sow her up again... The daughter, however, did not want to give her mom the notion/notice of 'death', so she told the doctor; "do not tell her!" .. ..thus he did, and told the mother that the gallstone-operation went all Fine, instead!
A year later the mother came back for a routine examination - without any of the symptoms!
And she told the doctor; <<I did believe I had cancer when I last was here to see you, but when it showed to be ?just? gallstone, I decided for myself, that I never again, would think in such a way! >>

While meditating late one night, a certain saint saw the ghost of the dread small pox disease entering the village of where he lived. "Stop Mr.Ghost!" he cried. "Go away, you must not molest a town in which I worship god."
"I will take only three people," the ghost replied "in accordance with my cosmic karmic duty." At this the saint unhappily nodded assent.
The following day three persons died of small pox. But the next day several more died, and each day thereafter more villagers were overcome by the fearful disease. Thinking that a great deception had been played on him the saint meditated deeply and summoned the ghost. When it came the saint rebuked it.
"Mr. Ghost you deceived me and did not speak the truth when you said you would only take three people with your small pox."
But the ghost replied, "By the great spirit, I did speak the truth to you."
The saint persisted, "You promised to take only three persons, and scores have succumed to the disease."
"I took only three," said the ghost. "The rest killed themselves with fear"

My mom died of cancer and she beleived it was because she constintly worried about everything and alot of others have that same opion as do I. I agree that the power of the mind is no where close to being understood, I dont think we as people have come close to deserve to understand it. And Smoker I loved your story about he village, it spoke to me very much ty
