Guys, don't despair! I too, started the Ecuador a couple of times, and although I did on agar in petri dishes, the growth was very fluffy and cottony. I took sections of this mycelium and transfered it to a new plate and it grew out rhyzomorphicaly with lots of strands. I would suggest trying to innoculate three or four master spawn jars. When these colonate (likely with the cottony mycelium) you use each master to innoculate about 4-6 jars per master end my guess is that you will get nicer growth in generation two of the spawn.

First off, i still wonder why one can never get a straight answer on the bb? I dont need to try to get rhizomorphic growth off agar, because it has already been done. The casing in question happens to be from a clone of an ec. Ok, so i have had almost full colonization of the casing and decided to deep scrath for the hell of it. I scrathed up the casing and in 4 days there was fuzz. So i thought, hmm why does only my ec's do this when i scratch. It cant possible be a contam from the source, because i used a clone. I never get cotams from teh casing layer either. So i decided to let it sit. To see if it was just mycelium, fuzzy mycelium. Sure enough thats what it is. Now i think back to the pounds of birdseed i have thrown out due to this problem and thik of the waste i have had. So my question is, does anyone else have the same pronblem wiht ec. This isnt a matter of where i got the strain nor its not a matter of if it is truely equador. Just wondering if this shit happens. Signed, The Hoe Saving Captain

the cottony mycelium for the ecuadors is normal. That is typically what I see as well. Save those jars -peace-

do you find this real light growth turns into an almost solid mass of white? I've seen that too. It seems to happen where growth is stalling, so even if its mycellium it still bothers me. It always happens in small spots, so my friend has started to cut those out after birth rather than wait so long. Before he was using liquid mycellium + Alien's substrate it was a much worse problem.
