My friend has a few jars of Lipa Yai that he innoculated about a week ago, they started growing mycelium, but it looks very very thin. Its a sort of fuzz like covering, and my friend was under the impression that the mycelium was relatively thick and rubbery. Is this because it is still in it's early stages of growth? Thanks.

Is the "fuzz-like" covering your whole jars, or is it starting from a spot and growing out rather slowly? If it's the latter, I'm sure you're fine.

Its starting from the innoculation points, it isn't cobweb. I made the jars almost 2 weeks in advance actually, and they didn't grow anything at all the fir4st two weeks so i'm practically 100% sure that they won't contam during the colonization phase.

I had myc. growth approximately 40 hrs. after inoculating my jars. I used 4cc. of fluid in each jar and I had noticeable signs before 2 whole days. It is possible. That one jar was fully colonized after 7 days with only 2 shakings.
