mycellium or cob web mold

Now is this mycellium growth or cob web mold? some of them have a sour smell to them. im incubating them using aliens incubator tek keeping them at 85.

my vote is for mycelium, but the sour small could be another contam entirely different to dactylium. why'd you take the lid off for the pic? asking for trouble, it's not ready yet even if it's OK

It looks healthy to me. I'd birth it in an isolated container in order to keep it from infecting the other cakes. Better safe then sorry.

Looks like mycelium. A sour smell is indicative of bacterial contam.

i agree, taking the lid off only makes the places around where you did it possibly unsterile, . I Think it looks like Mycelium

damn that sux i already lost mad cakes to contamination i need to work on my sterilization methods. thanks for the feedback

i ahd a jar that looked exactly like mycelium and also had a sour smell. i placed it in the fruiting chamber and developed cobweb mold in 1 weeks time. IME it will contaminate a week after put in fruiting chamber.

damn i suspected a contam its not a pleasant smell at all. dosnt smell anything like mycellium. last week i lost 2 cakes in my fruiting chamber to a green mold.

A general contamination rule of thumb is that if it smells rancid, chuck it. I would.

dont feel down, i think pretty much everybody has a learning curve, if u didnt have contams u wouldnt learn. basically u get better witch ever try. Im much cleaner than i used to be. didnt ever realize how bad contams actually are. i was hoping to have fruits 30 days ago but it didnt happen, but i know how to do it right now though, if u ever need any questions answers gimme a pm and ill try to help the best i can, w/ links and other stuff. good luck and sorry to hear about ur contams.
